Pixel values of image content are lowered in response to setting a display mode so that the lowered pixel values of the first image content are mapped to a first color gamut. The first color gamut is defined by a nominal range space and is lower than a native color gamut of a display panel. The native color gamut is defined by the nominal range space and an extended range space that is outside of the first color gamut. One or more parameters are obtained for the image content in the display mode. A color boosting operation is performed for, from among the lowered pixel values of the image content in the nominal range space, each of first pixel values that meet one of the parameters. A color associated with each of the first pixel values is proportionally enhanced without changing a corresponding hue to utilize the extended range space.

Techniques for managing a display device coupled to a media processing (MP) device are described. An MP logic/module implemented by the MP device can retrieve data from a display device and identify information characterizing the display device in a database based on the retrieved data. The MP logic/module can compare the retrieved data with the identified information and determine, based on the comparison, that software installed on the display device is obsolete, or that one or more settings of the display device has a first configuration. The MP logic/module can also generate a notification based on the determination, which can be displayed on the display device. The MP logic/module can trigger performance of an action based on the determination. Actions can include downloading an updated software to memory, installing the updated software, or changing the one or more settings from the first configuration to a second, more optimal configuration.

Facilitating service coverage identification using augmented reality is contemplated. The service coverage information may relate to wireless signaling metrics collected for wireless access points. A reality view captured with a mobile device to reflect an area proximate the access points may augmented with the service coverage information such that the resulting augmented reality view identifies variances or other parameters of the service coverage information relative to the mobile device.
