Implant for the cervical spine comprising an anterior plate () for maintaining a bone graft, bone anchorage screws () for the plate and means () for blocking the screws and preventing any migration of the screws, characterized in that the blocking means comprises at least one slide () slidably mounted on the plate so as to be applicable on at lease one anchorage screw head (). The slide cooperates with means () for retaining the slide on the head of the screw. The slide may be formed by a thin platelet () which is provided with lateral flanges () and is slidable in a complementary cavity () provided in the plate () while being flush with the surface of the plate (). The plate () includes ramps () for retaining the slide () on which the flanges () are slidable, the slide () being slidable to a position in which it at least partly overlaps the heads of the associated screws (or) and is locked in position by suitable means.

Lateral connector with adjustable offset for a connection between a rod and a member for fixation to the spine, comprising a component to be connected to the fixation member and provided with an extension inserted into a second component which comprises a seat for the rod and a way to immobilize the rod and the extension when placed in contact with each other. The first component comprises a head with an opening with a bearing surface of articulation cooperating with a corresponding bearing surface of the fixation member. The second component comprises an orifice for receiving the extension, permitting rotation of the second component about the extension, with the orifice intersecting the bottom of the seat to form a slot.

This instrumentation comprises valves (2) for shifting aside tissues and vessels, pins for fixing each valve (2) to the spine, each valve (2) comprising for this purpose sleeves (6) in which the pin (5) is slidable; the instrumentation further comprises, for each valve (2), an articulated device (7) comprising a clamp (12) for clamping a rod (13) fixed to the valve (2); the clamp (12) may be articulated to a ball and oriented in all directions in space while the rod (13) and the valve (2) are adjustable in translation in the clamp (12); the articulated devices (7) are adjustably slidably mounted on a support frame (8). The instrumentation further comprises a push member which is capable of bearing against the valves (2) and preventing them from slipping on the surface of the spine while they are being placed in position. This device permits conveniently orienting the valves (2) in all directions and in translation.

Surgical instrumentation and method for retracting and shifting tissues

The instrumentation comprises a pair of vertebral implants (1) provided with screws (4) for anchorage to two corresponding vertebrae located on each side of a damaged vertebra, and a plate (3) having two end portions (3a) for connection to the two implants, and equipped with serrations (6, 15) for fixing it to the implants. The end portions (3a) of the plate have a rounded periphery and the instrumentation comprises fixing screws (50) having heads (51) which are rounded so that their surface is flush with the surface of the plate when they are anchored in the apertures of the implant and the apertures of the end portion (3a) of the plate. This arrangement ensures that the ends of the plate (3) do not come into contact with the vertebral discs when the angular position of the plate (3) relative to the implants varies, and reduces the overall size of the instrumentation.
