The invention proposes a disc brake having a caliper (14) slidably mounted on a fixed support (10) by at least one axial column (16) slidingly received in an open bore (58) in the caliper (14). The brake is characterized in that the column (16) includes an axial abutment associated with the sleeve (40) in order to limit the axial displacements of the latter with respect to the caliper (14) when the stem (46) of the bolt (42) is unscrewed from the fixed support (10). The abutment (86) consists of a crown (70) of U-shaped cross-section the inner cylindrical sidewall (72) of which is mounted in the bore (43) inside the sleeve (40) and the flat annular end (76) of which is held tight between the end (52) of the sleeve and the fixed support (10) when the column (16) is fixed to the latter, the abutment surface (86) consisting of the extreme free edge of the outer cylindrical sidewall (74) of the crown (70).

Disc brake

The brake comprises a caliper (14) mounted for sliding on a fixed support by two axial columns (16 and 18) cooperating with bores (38, 40) formed in the caliper. The bores (38, 40) are provided with notches (42, 44) permitting the introduction of the columns (16, 18) transversely and without dismounting the latter. One of the columns (16) is equipped with a resilient sleeve (51) on which there is formed a projection (52) cooperating resiliently with the corresponding bore (38) of the caliper (14) to ensure functions of automatic recentring of the caliper and of anti-noise spring.

Disc brake having sliding caliper

A disc brake includes a caliper which receives two friction elements. Opposed edges of a friction element and the caliper respectively define a gap therebetween. A noise reducing spring of the brake includes a pair of resilient opposed arms. The resilient arms of the spring fit into the gap and cooperate with the gap-defining edges to reduce brake noise. A mounting pin carried by the caliper supports the friction elements therein. An aperture defined by the spring receives the mounting pin so that the spring is pivotally mounted relative to the caliper and friction elements. Upon installation, the spring is placed in its inoperative position with its resilient arms disposed away from the gap. After the friction elements and mounting pins are in place, the spring is pivoted into place and a tab of the spring snaps into a recess of the caliper to lock the spring in its operative position.
