This concerns a heating device for an aerodynamic profile ( ) including, incorporated into the aerodynamic profile near the leading edge ( ) of the aerodynamic profile, several resistive elements forming a first set ( ) of resistive elements ( ) running approximately parallel to the leading edge, arranged in a way to form a de-icing circuit. The device includes in addition a second set ( ) of resistive elements ( ) incorporated into the aerodynamic profile and arranged as an anti-icing circuit. The two circuits ( ) are independent and the relative positions of their elements are a function of the design of the profile.

Heating device with resistive elements for an aerodynamic profile

The heating device comprises electrically conducting longitudinal fibers extending substantially parallel to a leading edge of the aerofoil close to said leading edge, and means for electrically connecting the ends of the longitudinal conducting fibers to an electric power supply. The conducting fibers are grouped together in conducting rovings forming part of a hybrid fabric which furthermore includes a weft of electrically insulating fibers woven together and woven with the conducting rovings.

The shielding of the blade against lightning comprises a conducting component forming a leading edge glove and a cover for protecting the blade tip across its entire chord. Mechanical means, such as screws and rivets, with protruding shapes, fix the cover on the composite structure of the blade, in addition to some gluing, possibly conductive gluing, and are earthed by the cover, forming points where the lightning can enter or exit, protecting the surrounding composite structure of the blade against damage. At least the cover may have a suction face arm and a pressure face arm of different dimensions, at least in the direction of the span. When the blade is mounted on a member for linking to the hub, electrical continuity with this member and the hub is provided.

To combat the formation of ice on an aerofoil, several resistive elements each consisting of electrically conducting fibers parallel to the leading edge and through which an electric current is made to flow to dissipate heat by a Joule effect are incorporated into this aerofoil close to its leading edge. In order to obtain a thermal power which can vary along the leading edge, the resistive elements are produced by superposing several layers of conducting fibers, at least one of which layers has a constant width, and at least one other of which has a width which varies continuously along the leading edge, but remains smaller than said constant width.

A number of resistive elements are incorporated into the aerofoil in the vicinity of its leading edge. Each of the resistive elements is electrically connected to the other resistive elements at its distal end and is fitted at its proximal end with means of connection to an electrical power supply. The resistive elements are split between a first set that includes at least two resistive elements and a second set that includes at least one resistive element. In service, the resistive of the first set are powered in turn, while each resistive element of the second set acts as a return path for the electricity and is powered continuously or almost continuously.
