The invention concerns a mobile telephone comprising a housing containing an electrical circuit and a bearing a cover fixed in articulation to this housing a comprising a microphone, revolving contact being integrated in one of the two hinges linking the cover to the housing, for providing electric connections between the electric circuit and the microphone. The hinges articulate the housing to the cover comprise two contacts integrated with the housing, each including a contact arm, the ends of the two contact arms elastically resting on the two conductive pads separated by an insulating material and integrated in the articulating part of the cover, such that when the cover rotates, the ends of the two contact arms define circular paths on the two conductive pads.

The portable telephone comprises a body (1) including a loudspeaker and a keypad (3) and to which is fixed a cover (4) incorporating a microphone connected by conductors (15) to a circuit situated in the body (1), the cover (4) being hinged to the body so that it can pivot between a position folded against the body and a position deployed away from the latter. The circuit and the microphone are electrically connected by at least one pair of rotary electric contacts (8) incorporated into at least one of the hinges (9, 10) connecting the body (1) to the cover (4).

A connector for optical conductors including two bodies provided with a complimentary fixing device for urging them together under axial pressure and a coupling member to receive the ends of the tubular members. Each body carries a tubular member which is adapted to receive and to have fixed therein an end of one of the optical conductors to be connected. The coupling member includes a transparent elastomeric pad having a refractive index close to or substantially the same as that of the optical conductors which are to be connected and brought into engagement under the action of the complimentary fixing device, and the coupling member and/or the elastomeric pad is so shaped as to define between them a space traversed by a portion of the pad and into which the pad can deform under the axial contact pressure exerted thereon by the tubular members. The pad has a generally cylindrical shape in its rest position and passes through the sleeve into the space into which it may deform whereby the axial contact pressure exerted on the pad by the tubular members is insufficently significant to introduce into the pad constraints giving rise to deterioration in the transmission of light.

A connector for optical conductors, comprising a casing formed by two opposite bodies provided with complementary means for assembly of one to the other with axial pressure, each body receiving a cylindrical member comprising a shoulder portion and a barrel portion, the member being retained by the shoulder portion and disposed with the barrel portion directed toward the corresponding barrel portion of the cylindrical member mounted in the opposite body, each cylinder member further being adapted to receive an end of an optical fiber within a central bore at the end of the barrel portion in such a manner that the conductor is fixed therein with its end being flat and located in the plane of the end of the barrel portion of the cylinder, having at least two annular grooves in the barrel portion and longitudinally spaced along the length of the latter, the bases of the grooves being concentric with the central bore and the grooves containing torroidal joint means, and the connector further comprising a coupling member into which the barrel portions of the cylindrical members extend opposite to one another, the arrangement being such that the torroidal joint means, when under compression, allow self-centering of the cylindrical members within the coupling member when the members are engaged against one another under the action of complementary fixing means.

A connector tip is fixed to one end of an optical cable of a bundle of fibers surrounded by an outer protector sheath constituted by a thermoplastic material, the tip being also constituted by a thermoplastic material heat-weldable with that of the outer sheath. The sheath is removed in the vicinity of said end, the tip is placed in position on this end so that it surrounds and is in contact with, a zone of the cable stripped of its outer sheath and with a zone of the cable provided with its outer sheath and adjacent to said stripped zone. The tip is subjected to a radial flow of ultrasound at the same time as exerting on it a radial compressive force which in the region of the tip surrounding the outer sheath, welds the surfaces in contact with the tip and with the outer sheath together and the outer sheath is gripped around the bundle of fibers and, in the region of the tip surrounding the stripped zone, the softened thermoplastic material of the tip is forced between the fibers situated at the periphery of the bundle and in the immediate vicinity of the tip, and the fibers are gripped together.
