A rotary electrical machine comprises a rotor including a plurality of poles and a plurality of windings (E-E) wound about the poles, a stator, and a compensation device configured to compensate the armature magnetic reaction of the stator. The compensation device comprises at least one permanent compensation magnet which is implanted in a pole(s) of the rotor. The magnet(s) is/are sized and placed in accord with the desired compensation effect desired.

The rotor () includes magnetic assemblies () in the interpole space (). An assembly () is composed of at least one magnetic member () and at least one magnet (), received in a groove () made in each of the facing edge faces of the two adjacent claw poles (). This has the advantage of increasing the cross-section for the flow of rotor flux towards the stator, and of enabling the same milling cutter as has already been used to make the grooves in the edge faces of the claw poles.

In a rotary electrical machine, the stator is subject to eddy currents, causing losses. These losses are reduced by extending the path of the eddy currents whilst avoiding causing saturation. The invention relates to alternators for a motor vehicle, of which a stator comprises a cylindrical body, several phases each formed by a plurality of electrically conducting elements, the cylindrical body comprising radial slots for accommodating at least four phase-conductor elements forming at least four layers of conductor elements, each conductor element including two branches placed in slots each in a predetermined layer and a head forming a U-shape seen in the peripheral direction, the half of the conductor elements which are engaged by their first branches in a slot being engaged by their second respective branches in the same other slot. According to the invention, at least first and second conductor elements of such half are such that the radii of curvature of the U-shapes of the two conductor elements are substantially identical.
