The invention relates to a disc-brake motor subassembly comprising at least one piston (10), which can be controlled by a mechanical subassembly having first and second plates (40, 48), one of which is actuated in rotation, these two plates bearing mutually faced indentations (54, 56) in which is accommodated at least one ball (52), the indentations being provided in the axial direction of the plates with a slope which allows the conversion of the rotation of a first plate into axial displacement of the second plate in order to control the piston (10). According to the invention, in the course of the rotation the ball (52) follows a trajectory, the distance of each of the points of which from the axis of the plates (40, 48) is variable.

The wear indicator of the friction lining (10) of a brake consists essentially of a loop of conductive wire arranged in a sleeve (18) closed by way of an insulating bush (20) of cylindrical form and having a longitudinal axis (16). The loop is in contact at least once with substantially all the generatrices of the inner wall of the bush (20). Preferrably, the loop consists of a substantially straight first part (24) arranged parallel to the longitudinal axis (16) and a second part (26) wound helically round the first part (24) and connected to the latter.

The caliper disc brake comprises at least one hydraulic working chamber (20) intended for spacing apart from one another a piston (16) bearing on one brake shoe (12) and a caliper (18) bearing on the other brake shoe (14). The inner walls of the working chamber (20) are covered with a layer (22, 24) of a thermally insulated material.

A disc brake comprises a caliper mounted slideably relative to the axis of the rotating disc, on a fixed support by way of an axial column, two friction members mounted on carrier plates anchored and axially slideable inside an opening in the fixed support so as to come into frictional engagement with the opposing sides of the disc when a brake motor is operated, and a locking element extending axially between at least one opening formed in the caliper and at least one opening formed in the fixed support so as to help guide the caliper on the fixed support and prevent it pivoting about the column when it assumes its normal operating position. A spring is mounted on the caliper on the side located circumferentially at a distance from the axial column, the mounting portion being elastically mounted inside at least one opening provided in the caliper for the locking element to pass through, the mounting portion surrounding substantially the part of the locking element passing through said opening, the rigid working portion being capable of biasing elastically the friction-member carrier plates substantially radially towards the axis of the disc.

The wear indicator comprises essentially a coaxial cable (4, 5) of which the conducting core (4) and the conducting sleeve (5) are connected electrically by a socket (6, 6', 6', 6'41 ). One bared end of the core (4) is disposed on a wear limit plane of a lining forming part of a friction member. A rotating member, disc or drum then cuts the end of the core when the lining reaches its permissible wear limit.

Multiple disc brake comprising a first rotary disc fixed to a hub connected to a rotating member to be braked and at least one second rotary disc capable of sliding axially relative to the hub and to the first disc. A first axial guide sleeve (16) fixed to the first disc (1) is arranged coaxially relative to a second axial guide sleeve (18) fixed to the second disc (2) and is connected to this second sleeve (18) by way of several grooves (22), rolling members (27) being in contact with at least one face of these. The invention is used on multiple disc brakes for land vehicles.

The indicator comprises a loop of an electrical conductor 2 embedded in a body 1, from which a stud 3 and a lug 4 project. The stud 3 is pushed into a hole 9 made in a support plate 5 of the friction member, and the rest of the body and the lug 4 are turned down round one edge of the plate as a result of the deformability of the body between the stud 3 and the 4. The groove formed at the end of the stud 3 makes it possible to retain the lug 4 against the support plate in order to ensure that the indicator is fastened to this plate. The invention is used on disc brakes or drum brakes for motor vehicles.

Disc brake having a caliper (18) mounted for sliding on a fixed support (10) by way of two axial pins (14, 16) passing through openings (20, 22) formed on arms (24, 26) of the fixed support (10). According to the invention, pins (14, 16) and arms (24, 26) are placed in a central opening (54) in the caliper (18). The pins (14, 16) are formed by bolts urging toward one another the portions (60 and 62) of the caliper (18) which are placed one on each side of the disc in order to increase the rigidity of the portions (56, 58) of the caliper passing above the disc.

The strut, mounted in the vicinity of the brake application mechanism and bearing with each of its ends against each of the shoes (3, 4), has a device which automatially extends according to the wear of the friction components and which consists of a nut-and-bolt system (8-11) operated by a pawl (12) engaging with teeth (11) integral with the nut. The pawl (12) is mounted on an elastic leaf (13) integral with the strut and separated elastically therefrom by a rocker lever (14) which, by tilting, allows the leaf (13) to move toward the strut when the shoes are pushed apart, thus enabling the pawl (12) to cause the nut (11) to rotate and, therefore, the length of the strut to increase. A bimetallic strip (30) is capable of counteracting the tilting movement of the lever (14) when the brake is hot.

The invention relates to spring (40) for a disc brake. The spring is mounted elastically in an opening (68) of a caliper and exerts on the support plates (26, 28) a radial force (F1) as well as a tangential force (F'5) ensuring that the plates assume a preferred lateral position. The spring (40) comprises a metal leaf with two main arms (42, 44) connected to each other and to a central arm (48) by a main fold (46), the spring having the general shape of a 'trident', the end prongs of which comprise the main arms (42, 44), the latter cooperating by way of their free ends (50) with a surface (52) formed on the caliper (10) and by way of central portions (54) with bearing surfaces (56) formed on the support plates, the central arm (48) having at its free end (62) a Z-shaped fold cooperating with two surfaces (64, 66) of the caliper, the main fold (46) having a lug (74) cooperating radially with another surface (76) of the caliper (10).

The invention concerns a disc brake with a sliding calliper (10) incorporating two shafts for guiding and holding two friction components (20, 24) which are capable of being actuated by a brake actuator (18), and incorporating a spring for noise suppression (32) consisting of a metal leaf in the general shape of a cross incorporating two bearing arms formed on each side of a central axial portion (34), the arms bearing radially against the shafts, the central portion cooperating in bearing with external peripheral portions of the friction components (20, 24). Of the ends (46, 54) of the central portion (34), one end (46) incorporates an extension (44) which enters with a predetermined radial clearance into a hole (48) formed facing it in the calliper (10).
