The invention relates to active material for the negative electrode of secondary rechargeable lithium batteries, wherein the active material is based on doped or undoped carbon-bearing lithium titanium ramsdellite oxide with general formula LiTiOor LiTiO. The active material comprises a carbon substituted ramsdellite phase having a general formula LC&#x2014;TiO, with 0.1&#x3c;c&#x3c;0.5, and more than 0.1 mol % of spinel phase having a general formula Li+xTiOwith 0&#x3c;x&#x3c;0.33.

High voltage negative active material for a rechargeable lithium battery

A negative electrode material, a method for producing this material, and to a negative electrode and a lithium-ion battery comprising this material are described. The material comprises an active phase consisting of a material M based on Al, Si, Sn, Sb or a mixture thereof, and a support phase consisting of a material XaYbOc, where: O is an oxygen; Y is a cation with oxidation degree m=3, 4, 5 or 6; X is a cation with oxidation degree d=1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, X ensuring the electroneutrality of XaYbOc; and where: c is such that 2&#x2266;c&#x2266;10; b is such that 1&#x2266;b&#x2266;4; and a=(2c&#x2212;bm)/d. An interface of mixed composition exists between the XaYbOc material and the active phase M, the interface consisting of the elements M, X, Y and O.

Negative electrode composite material, production method, negative electrode and lithium-ion battery

An active material for high-voltage negative electrodes (&#x3e;1V vs. Li) of secondary rechargeable lithium batteries is disclosed. Chemical composition is represented by the general formula LiTiFeMM'O, where M and M&#x2032; are metal ions having an ionic radius between 0.5 and 0.8 A and forming an octahedral structure with oxygen, like Ti, Co, Co, Ni, Ni, Cu, Mg, A, In, Sn, Sb, Sb, &#x3b1; is related to the formal oxidation numbers n and n&#x2032; of M and M&#x2032; by the relation 2&#x3b1;=v+4w&#x2212;3x&#x2212;ny&#x2212;n&#x2032;z and the ranges of values are &#x2212;0.5&#x2266;V&#x2266;0.5, 0&#x2266;w&#x2266;0.2, x&#x3e;0, y+z&#x3e;0 and x+y+z&#x2266;0.7. The structure is related to that of ramsdellite for all the compositions. The negative active material is prepared by ceramics process wherein lithium oxide, titanium oxide, iron oxide, M and/or M&#x2032; oxide are used as starting material for synthesis. Inorganic or organic solid precursors of the oxides can also be used instead. After reactant dispersion the mixture is fired. The resulting electrochemically active material provides low working voltage and capacity with excellent cycling capabilities at both low and high current densities.

Negative electrode for lithium batteries

A novel supported bimetallic catalyst comprises a group VIII metal such as platinum, and tin, at least a portion of which interacts strongly with the group VIII metal in the catalyst in the reduced state. In the partially oxidized state, the catalyst of the invention contains at least 10% of tin in the form of a reduced tin species with oxidation state 0, said species having an isomer shift in the range 0.80 to 2.60 mm/s and a quadrupolar splitting in the range 0.65 to 2.00 mm/s. The invention also concerns the preparation of said catalyst, and processes using said catalyst for transforming hydrocarbons into aromatic compounds, such as gasoline reforming processes and aromatic production processes.

A process for dehydrogenating organic compounds, in particular paraffins and naphthenes, is carried out in the presence of a supported catalyst comprising a group VIII metal such as platinum, and tin, at least a portion of which interacts strongly with the group VIII metal in the catalyst in the reduced state. In the partially oxidised state, the catalyst contains at least 10% of tin in the form of a reduced tin species with oxidation state 0, said species having an isomer shift in the range 0.80 to 2.60 mm/s and a quadrupolar splitting in the range 0.65 to 2.00 mm/s.

Process for dehydrogenating organic compounds in the presence of a supported bimetallic catalyst with a strong interaction between a group VIII metal and tin

The invention relates to a process for the preparation of berlinite crystals AlPO.sub.4, with a high Q factor, from seeds or crystalline flakes of AlPO.sub.4, by a hydrothermal method. It is characterized in that the crystallization solution is a sulfuric solution of AlPO.sub.4. The invention also relates to the berlinite monocrystals obtained by this process.
