The process according to the invention includes the combination, with a liquid phase change material (PCM), of a texturing agent chosen so as to greatly reduce the thermal convection and whose viscosity is decreased reversibly under shearing. The material formed has a gelled consistency when at rest, and fluidized under shearing. The PCM comprises a mixture of chemical compounds from the alkane family: paraffins, waxes, fatty alcohols, fatty acids etc., and the texturing agent is a high mass polymer (hydrocarbonate polymers, ester or ether polymers, mixed ester-hydrocarbon polymers), an ionomer polymer or a di, tri or multi-block styrene copolymer (SBS: styrene-butadiene-styrene, SEBS: styrene-ethylene-butadiene-styrene). Applications: thermal insulation of vessels or lines, and more especially, for hydrocarbon transport lines.

Method for making a quasi-incompressible phase-change material, shear-thinned and with low heat conductivity

A method for making a quasi-incompressible phase-change material (PCM) having low thermal conductivity includes combining with a phase-change material (PCM) in liquid state a thickening agent selected to reduce significantly thermal convection, the formed material having, depending on the combinations performed, a gelled structure or a colloidal dispersed system. The PCM may be a mixture of chemical compounds of the family of alkanes, paraffins, waxes, fatty alcohols, fatty acids and the like, and the thickening agent may be organic (aromatic ureas), organometallic (alkaline or alkaline earth soaps) or purely inorganic (silica, silico-aluminates such as bentonite made oleophilic). The material is useful for thermal isolation of containers or pipes, and in particular for thermal insulation of hydrocarbon carrying pipes.

A process for the production of very high quality base oils optionally with simultaneous production of high quality middle distillates comprises the stages for hydrotreatment, preferably hydrocracking, on Y or beta zeolite, and atmospheric distillation. The effluent is subjected to a catalytic dewaxing on the ZSM-48 catalyst. The process then comprises a hydrofinishing stage for hydrogenating the aromatic compounds, preferably on a catalyst that comprises at least one noble metal of group VIII, chlorine and fluorine, and the stages of atmospheric and vacuum distillation. The hydrofinishing stage is conducted at a temperature lower by 20-200&#xb0; C. than the catalytic dewaxing stage.

Colloidal products according to the invention are obtained by a method comprising a step (a) providing a colloidal product containing at least one alkaline earth metal carbonate in micelle form, optionally reacted with at least one compound selected from alkylsulphonic acids and alkylarylsulphonic acids and salts thereof and long chain aliphatic carboxylic acids and salts thereof such as to modify a proportion of up to 70% of the basicity reserve of the original colloidal product and a step (b) in which the residual basicity reserve is neutralized by at least one acid containing at least one element selected from boron, phosphorus and sulphur. These colloidal products can be used as wear resistance and extreme pressure additives in lubricants.

Colloidal products are described which contain an element selected from sulphur, phosphorus and possibly boron, as well as an element chosen from metal alkalis, alkaline earth metals and zinc, micellized in at least one detergent agent. They can be obtained in micelle form by reaction of at least one mineral acid or organic acid, containing sulphur and/or phosphorus and possibly an acid containing boron, these acids being directly introduced or formed in situ with at least one basic derivative containing a alkali metal and/or an alkaline earth metal and/or zinc, in the presence of at least one surface active agent. The colloidal products can be used as wear resistance and extreme pressure additives for lubricants.

Colloidal products containing calcium and/or magnesium plus sulfur and nitrogen are obtained by at least partial neutralization of the basicity reserve of at least one overbasic sulfonate charged with calcium carbonate and/or with magnesium carbonate dispersed within micelles. The neutralization is by means of at least one functional dicarboxylic acid of the formula: ##STR1## where each symbol a is a whole number from 1 to 8, x and z are each a number from 1 to 4, y is a whole number from 0 to 4 and n is 1 or 2. These products can be represented by the general formula: ##STR1## in which R particularly represents a substantially hydrocarbon monovalent radical with 1 to 30 carbon atoms, X and Y each represent a hydrogen atom or a substantially hydrocarbon monovalent radical with 1 to 30 carbon atoms, M represents copper in one of its two ordinary degrees of oxidation and n the degree of oxidation. The products according to the invention are usable as additives for lubricants in which they provide an effective protection against wear.
