The present disclosure relates to an accessory holder attachable to or integrated in the nozzle of an apparatus for particle beam irradiation treatment. The accessory may be an aperture piece, a range shifter or any other element that can be placed in the beam path between the outer end of the nozzle and the irradiated target. The accessory holder may be equipped with first displacement means for moving the accessory away from or towards the nozzle, thereby moving the accessory forwards and backwards in the direction of the beam and second displacement means for moving the accessory into or out of the beam path. Measurements or treatment steps may be performed with and without the accessory in the beam path, without interrupting the treatment.

Accessory holder for particle beam apparatus

RF device () able to generate an RF acceleration voltage in a synchrocyclotron. The device comprises a resonant cavity () formed by a grounded conducting enclosure () and enveloping a conducting pillar () to a first end of which an accelerating electrode () is linked. A rotary variable capacitor () is mounted in the conducting enclosure at a second end of the pillar, opposite from the first end, comprising at least one fixed electrode (stator) () and a rotor () exhibiting a rotation shaft () supported and guided in rotation by galvanically isolating bearings (), said rotor () comprising one moveable electrode () possibly facing the stator (). When the shaft () rotates, the stator and the moveable electrode together form a variable capacitance whose value varies cyclically with time. The rotor () is galvanically isolated from the conducting enclosure () and from the pillar (). The stator () is connected to the second end of the pillar () or to the conducting enclosure (). The rotor is respectively coupled capacitively to the conducting enclosure or to the pillar. This makes it possible to dispense with sliding electrical contacts between the rotor and respectively the conducting enclosure or the pillar.

The present invention is related to an irradiation cell for producing a radioisotope of interest through the irradiation of a target material by a particle beam, comprising a metallic insert forming a cavity designed to house the target material and to be closed by an irradiation window, wherein said metallic insert comprises at least two separate metallic parts of different materials, being composed of at least a first part comprising said cavity.

The present invention is related to a patient positioning imaging device for positioning a patient in a hadron therapy device provided with a rotatable gantry (). The patient positioning imaging device comprises a rotatable structure () provided with an extensible arm or foldable pivoting arm () arranged for connecting an imaging beam source () and an extensible structure or foldable pivoting structure () arranged for carrying an imaging beam receiver (). The rotatable structure () is arranged for taking CBCT shots of the patient while the patient is located in an offset position with respect to an isocentre of the hadron therapy device, said offset position being in the direction of a rotational axis of the rotatable gantry (). The rotatable structure () is arranged for being rotated while the rotatable gantry () remains fixed, and while the extensible or pivoting arm () and the extensible or pivoting structure () are in extended or unfolded position.

Patient positioning imaging device and method

Therapy system () for irradiating a target volume () of a patient () with a charged particle beam (), including a beam generator (), a beam transport system (), and a nozzle () for distributing the beam to the target volume (), the nozzle () being, when in operation, under vacuum. The therapy system comprises an X-ray device () which is rotatably mounted inside the nozzle () between a first position and a second position. In the first position, an X-Ray source () within the X-Ray device is able to emit X-Rays along a charged particle beam path for generating an X-Ray image on a corresponding X-Ray receiving device () arranged opposite to the patient (), said X-Ray image serving to determine a correct position of the target volume () with regard to the charged particle beam (). In the second position, the X-Ray device () is set outside of a charged particle beam treatment path envelope (), so that the charged particle beam () can reach and irradiate the target volume ().

Charged particle beam therapy system having an X-ray imaging device

A shielding () for reducing the amount of radiation passing through the shielding comprises a first part () and a second part (), wherein the first part is arranged for being withdrawn from the second part and wherein said first and second parts comprise abutments. At least one pair of corresponding abutments of said first and second parts has a transverse section which is curvilinearly shaped along a portion of at least half of said transverse section.
