A holographic projection system with an optical wave tracking system sets the propagation direction of a modulated wave uses a position control system and an eye finder. It provides an adjustable optical wave correction system which compensates for deformations of the wave which are dependent on the current eye position. Largely dynamic changes and deformations in the form structure of the modulated and conditioned wave are reduced, which result from changes in the propagation direction of the aligned, optically enlarged and modulated wave on a focusing display screen. The optical wave correction system includes adjustable wave form means and computer means which set the optical behavior of the wave form means using the positional data from the current eye position. The adjustable wave form means are located in the light path between an illuminating system for the spatial light modulation means and the display screen of the projection system.

Optical wave correction for a holographic projection system

A device for correcting the wavelength dependence in diffraction-based optical systems in which certain orders of diffraction are filtered is disclosed, comprising at least one diffractive optical spatial light modulator that has controllable structures, and at least one light source for illuminating the spatial light modulator. Associated orders of diffraction are created which, depending on the wavelength, have a lateral chromatic offset relative to the position of the different extensions thereof on a filter plane defined by the focal length of a downstream optically focusing system, the lateral chromatic offset being in relation to the normal line to the surface of the spatial light modulator. The equinumerous orders of diffraction of different wavelengths overlap to an sufficient extent on a predefined filter plane in relation to both the direction and the extension thereof.

Device for correcting the wavelength dependence in diffraction-based optical systems

A holographic projection system with a display screen and an optical wave tracking element for controlling the direction of propagation of a modulated wave uses a position controller and an eye finder. An extremely wide tracking range is realized in the projection system for simultaneous viewing of the reconstruction by multiple observers, which are situated beside one another. The reconstruction of the scene is reconstructed for each eye position of an observer such that the entire scene is visible in the visibility region in a large tracking range with minimal errors. The projection system reconstructs the scene with the help of modulated partial waves. Projection element(s) direct these partial waves with separately holographically reconstructed segments of the scene at the desired eye position through a structure of screen segments which are at least horizontally staggered on the display screen.

Holographic projection system with optical wave tracking and with means for correcting the holographic reconstruction

A holographic reconstruction system having spatial light modulators, an eye finder and a position control orients a propagating spatially modulated light wave field toward at least one eye position of an observer's eye, thereby reconstructing a scene in a three-dimensional manner and tracking the same during a position change of the eye position. Unobstructed lateral and axial movement of the observer head to arbitrary eye positions in a tracking region is enabled. The use of additional, planar optical components, which bring about optical aberrations during a position change of observer eyes, are prevented.

A direction-controlled illumination unit for an autostereoscopic display, which unit deflects light from activated illumination elements through a transmissive image reproduction means in the space in front of the display into visibility areas, from which a stereoscopic and/or monoscopic representation can be seen. The direction-controlled illumination unit contains an illumination means having illumination elements, an imaging means having imaging elements, a prism arrangement, a light-scattering means and an image reproduction means. A respective imaging element is assigned a number of illumination elements in order to deflect light in the form of a beam onto observers' eyes in a sequential manner in terms of time.

A holographic projection system has an optical wave tracking system which adjusts the propagation direction of a modulated wavefront. It provides an adjustable wave tracking system which aligns the modulated wave with a desired eye position of one or more observers and follows the movements of the observer. The system comprises spatial light modulation means which modulate a wave with holographic information for the purpose of holographic reconstruction. The optical wave tracking provides the light path of the modulated wave with a desired propagation direction which guides the modulated wave out of the reconstruction system via a light exit position of a display screen. Position control means set adjustable tracking mirror means in terms of their inclination to a reflection direction for reflecting the modulated wave and deflection means, which are located in the set reflection direction, reflect the wave via the display screen into the desired propagation direction.

Holographic reconstruction system with optical wave tracking means

An apparatus for recording holograms on an optical medium, in particular on an optically addressable spatial light modulation device is disclosed. For this purpose, the apparatus comprises an illumination device for emitting light, an optical medium, an image source having at least one modulation element, and an arrangement of microlenses. In this case, the arrangement of microlenses is arranged at a distance from the optical medium in such a way that the image focal points of the microlenses lie on the optical medium, such that the hologram can be generated on the optical medium.
