The disclosure relates to novel 17,18,19,20-tetranor-prostanoic acid derivatives having prostaglandin-type properties, to a method for their manufacture, and also to pharmaceutical or veterinary compositions containing said novel derivatives and a method of inducing luteolysis in an animal host by use of said novel derivatives.

Method of inducing luteolysis using

The disclosure relates to novel 4-cis-prostenoic acid derivatives, for example 16-(3-chlorophenoxy)-9.alpha.,11.alpha.,15-trihydroxy-17,18,19,20-tetranor -4-cis, 13-trans-prostadienoic acid, to chemical processes for their manufacture, to pharmaceutical and veterinary compositions containing them, and to the use of the compounds in a method of luteolysis, a method of inhibiting blood platelet aggregation, and a method of inhibiting gastric acid production.

Prostane derivatives

The disclosure relates to .omega.-aryl substituted .omega.-nor prostaglandin analogues bearing an oxygenated function at C-10, such as a hydroxy radical, or a 9,10- or 10,11-epoxide. A typical compound is 16-(3-chlorophenoxy)-9.alpha.,10.beta.,11.alpha.,15.alpha.-tetrahydroxy-17 ,18,19,20-tetranor-5-cis,13-trans-prostadienoic acid. Also disclosed are chemical processes for the manufacture of said compounds, pharmaceutical and veterinary compositions containing said compounds, and a method of achieving luteolysis in mammals by the use of such compounds.

3,4-Epoxy-cyclopenta-1,2-diyl prostanes

The disclosure relates to novel pentanor prostaglandin analogues, for example 15-(5-chloroindan-2-yl)-9.alpha.,11.alpha.,15-trihydroxy-16,17,18,19,20-pe ntanor-5-cis,13-trans-prostadienoic acid and 15-(5-chloroindan-2-yl)-11.alpha.,15-dihydroxy-9-oxo-16,17,18,19,20-pentan or-5-cis,13-trans-prostadienoic acid and the 1-ester and 1-alcohol derivatives thereof, to a process for their manufacture, to compositions containing them, and to their use in a method of inducing luteolysis.

Cyclopentane derivatives

The disclosure relates to novel ethers and glycosides of prostaglandin analogues, for example 16-(3-chlorophenoxy)-1-methoxy-17,18,19,20-tetranor-5-cis,13-trans-prostad ien-9.alpha. ,11.alpha. ,15.alpha.-triol, to a process for their manufacture, to compositions containing them, and to their use in a method of inducing luteolysis in a warm-blooded animal host.

Prostanoic acid derivatives

The disclosure relates to novel pentanor prostaglandin analogues, for example 15-(5-chloroindan-2-yl)-9.alpha.,11.alpha.,15-trihydroxy-16,17,18,19,20-pe ntanor-5-cis, 13-trans-prostadienoic acid and 15-(5-chloroindan-2-yl)-11.alpha.,15-dihydroxy-9-oxo-16,17,18,19,20-pentan or-5-cis,13-trans-prostadienoic acid and the 1-ester and 1-alcohol derivatives thereof, to a process for their manufacture, to compositions containing them, and to their use in a method of inducing luteolysis.

Prostanoic acid derivatives having luteolytic activity are provided. A representative compound is 16-(6-chloropyrid-2-yloxy)-9.alpha., 11.alpha., 15-trihydroxy-17, 18, 19, 20-tetranor-5-cis, 13-trans-prostadienoic acid.
