Disclosed are a device and a method for detecting a reversed insertion of the SIM card into a SIM card socket unit in the terminal. The device includes a SIM card socket unit including a detection terminal that is disposed at a position to be contacted with a GND terminal of the SIM card, and when the SIM card is inserted, and outputs a voltage received from a contacted terminal of the SIM card.
