Provided are a digital broadcasting receiver and method of broadcast content protection. The digital broadcasting receiver comprises a platform which stores received broadcast data, middleware which comprises an application manager managing various applications so that broadcast content corresponding to the received broadcast data is used according to a consumption policy, a platform interface unit which acts as an interface between the platform and the middleware, and a middleware interface unit which acts as an interface between the various applications and the middleware. According to the method, various broadcast content protection and management policies can be accepted in various digital broadcasting receivers, each having different hardware and software structures.

Digital broadcasting receiver for protection of broadcasting contents and the method thereof

Provided are an interoperable DRM device and method thereof. The interoperable DRM device includes: an interface for communicating with a terminal that performs predetermined operations for reproducing contents; and a DRM processor for managing digital rights of the contents. The present invention relates to modality conversion for supporting Quality of Service (QoS) according to media resources, which includes the steps of receiving a modality conversion descriptor in which the characteristics of the modality conversion of the multimedia contents are described, receiving the multimedia contents, and converting the modality of the multimedia contents into a modality determined according to a media resource and the modality conversion descriptor. According to the present invention, a systematic approach to a design for an overlap content value model is provided so that the conversion boundaries between modalities can be quantitatively calculated. As a result, the correlation between various modalities can be established in a single model, and modality conversion supporting the optimal QoS can be performed.

Method and apparatus for converting the modality of multimedia contents to support the quality of service according to media resource

The present invention relates to a method of systematically and synthetically accessing modality conversion that is an important part in the contents adaptive conversion process of a universal multimedia access system. The present invention provides an effective method of solving a problem, which is incurred at the time of modality conversion and still remains as one of difficult problems incurred during adaptive contents conversion. For this purpose, the present invention includes overlapped contents modeling newly proposed to determine modality conversion, a method of flexibly and clearly expressing and applying user preference for the modality conversion, and a resource allocation method of distributing resources among complicated contents based on the user preference. As a result, the integration of the above three methods provides a synthetic solution, particularly, to a problem incurred in the modality conversion and, generally, to a problem incurred in the adaptive conversion of contents.

Device and method for modality conversion of multimedia contents

Disclosed are a method and a system that adaptively transform visual contents inputted from a network, in accordance with the visual characteristics of a terminal user. A visual characteristics descriptor that describes the information of the user visual characteristics in a predetermined format is proposed. The descriptor includes the information of the color vision deficiency type and the color vision deficiency degree. The color vision deficiency may be described in numerical degree or textual degree. The invention adaptively transforms visual contents differently in accordance with the color vision deficiency type.
