Combined antenna structure

Various embodiments provide an antenna assembly and associated systems, devices, and methods. The antenna assembly may include two or more antennas, including a first antenna and a second antenna, coupled to a ground plane. The antenna assembly may further include an isolation network coupled to the ground plane between the first and second antennas. The isolation network may include a conductive structure between conductive antenna portions of the first and second antennas, and an isolation circuit coupled between the conductive structure and the ground plane. The isolation circuit may include a resistor, an inductor, and/or a capacitor (e.g., coupled in parallel with one another). Other embodiments may be described and claimed.

A method and apparatus for implementing host-centric antenna control. An apparatus may include a plurality of antennas for wireless transmission and reception, a wireless modem for processing a signal for wireless transmission and reception via the antennas, a processor (host), and an antenna tuner circuitry. The processor is configured to run an antenna tuner software module configured to generate a control signal to configure at least one antenna. The antenna tuner circuitry is configured to switch or tune the at least one antenna based on the control signal. The apparatus may include at least one sensor coupled to the processor. The antenna tuner software module may be configured to generate the control signal based on inputs from the at least one sensor. The antenna tuner software module may be configured to receive RF parameters from the wireless modem and generate the control signal based on the RF parameters.

Method and apparatus for implementing host-centric antenna control

The encapsulated antenna device may include an insulating housing and a metal layer arranged within a cavity of the housing. The encapsulated antenna device also includes an antenna device comprising a ground terminal and an antenna body, wherein the ground terminal is connected to the metal layer, wherein the antenna body is arranged above the metal layer and within the cavity. The encapsulated antenna device also includes a spacer between the metal layer and the antenna body that provides an offset distance between the metal layer and the antenna body.

Encapsulated wireless antenna for reducing the impact of radio frequency interference

A wireless modem device. The device includes a plurality of transceivers, a plurality of antenna ports, a plurality of RF multiplexers, and a plurality of switches. Each transceiver is configured to process a radio frequency (RF) signal in a specific frequency band. Each antenna port is coupled to one of a plurality of antennas. Each RF multiplexer is configured to split an RF signal received via a common port of the RF multiplexer to one of frequency-specific ports of the RF multiplexer based on a frequency band of the RF signal and combine RF signals received via the frequency-specific ports into the common port, wherein the common port of each RF multiplexer is coupled to one of the antenna ports. Each switch is configurable by software to couple one of the transceivers to one of the antenna ports.

A wireless computing device may include an internal antenna, a radio frequency (RF) transmission path that is switchably connectable to the internal antenna, a Universal Serial Bus (USB) connector configured to connect to an external antenna, a detector configured to detect if an external antenna is connected to the USB connector, and an antenna selector configured to (1) connect the internal antenna into the RF transmission path if the detector detects that no external antenna is connected to the USB connector and (2) disconnect the internal antenna from the RF transmission path and connect the external antenna into the RF transmission path if the detector detects that the external antenna is connected to the USB connector, thereby improving the wireless transmission/reception performance of the internal wireless module of the wireless computing device.

The various aspects include co-located millimeter wave (mmWave) and near-field communication (NFC) antennas, scalable phased array radio transceiver architecture (SPARTA), phased array distributed communication system with MIMO support and phase noise synchronization over a single coax cable, communicating RF signals over cable (RFoC) in a distributed phased array communication system, clock noise leakage reduction, IF-to-RF companion chip for backwards and forwards compatibility and modularity, on-package matching networks, 5G scalable receiver (Rx) architecture, among others.

Wireless communication technology, apparatuses, and methods

Various embodiments utilize part of an existing antenna pattern in a computing device to implement a specific absorption rate (SAR) sensor element using a radio frequency (RF) filter circuit. The integrated solutions of the present disclosure help to eliminate the external SAR sensor pad requirement and further help to improve wireless performance. The embodiments of the present disclosure may be implemented with a variety of different types of antenna (e.g., slot, metal ring/aperture, PCB, etc.). Other embodiments may be described and claimed.

An example electronic user device includes a first housing; a second housing rotatably coupled to the first housing; a display screen carried by the second housing; a dual-band antenna carried by the second housing; and a bezel about the display screen, the bezel to cover the dual-band antenna.

Slot antennas for electronic user devices and related methods

A wave launcher may include a printed circuit board (PCB) that includes a pin that receives a radio frequency (RF) signal. The wave launcher may include a cylinder configured to be electrically coupled to the pin and define an opening. The cylinder may receive the RF signal from the pin, form a transition from coplanar to Goubau line structure with a plate, and generate the surface wave. The wave launcher may include an insulator configured to be physically positioned within the opening and between the cylinder and a power line. The insulator may mechanically isolate the cylinder from the power line and permit the cylinder to launch the surface wave on the power line. The wave launcher may include the plate electrically coupled to a pad and may provide a reference for the pin and the cylinder. The pin and the cylinder may be physically positioned proximate the plate.

Further, an electronic device comprises a hinge arrangement between the case and the lid. The hinge arrangement comprises at least one hinge structure connecting the lid to the case. Further, the electronic device comprises an antenna. The antenna is arranged in an area of the hinge arrangement. The heat spreading structure extends from the case through the area of the hinge arrangement to the lid.

A slot antenna assembly for a portable electronic device is disclosed. The assembly includes a first slot antenna having a first slot through a substrate from an outer surface of the substrate to an inner surface of the substrate. The assembly also includes a second slot antenna including a second slot through the substrate from the outer surface of the substrate to the inner surface of the substrate. An isolator includes at least one of an isolation slot and a conductor. The isolation slot includes a substrate isolation slot which extends through the substrate between the first and second slot antennas; and a conductor. The conductor connects the inner surface of the substrate between the first and second antennas to an opposite inner surface of an opposite substrate opposite the inner surface between the first and second antennas.
