A method for delivering content to be rendered by multiple devices is provided. Indications of resources available to a user are received, the resources including rendering resources, the rendering resources provided by a plurality of devices, each of the plurality of devices being coupled to a network, wherein at least one of the plurality of devices provides at least one rendering resource available for use of the user, and provides at least one rendering resource available for simultaneous use of another user. Content requested by the user is received, the content including a plurality of content types. A mapping of content types to the plurality of devices is determined, wherein the mapping is based on rendering resources provided by each of the plurality of devices. Content types of the content requested by the user are delivered to the plurality of devices according to the mapping, the content types delivered to the plurality of devices via the network.

System and method for rendering content on multiple devices

A communication system () includes a first communication unit () capable of communicating over a full-duplex persistent-connection link provided by a full-duplex network () and a second communication unit () capable of communicating over a half-duplex dispatch link provided by a dispatch RF system (). The system () also includes a dispatch gateway (). The dispatch gateway () receives signals from a first communication unit () over a full-duplex persistent link through a full-duplex network () and provides communication between the first communication unit and a single dispatch communication unit () or a group of dispatch communication units () over a half-duplex communication link through a dispatch RF system (). The gateway operates in a manner so as to permit communication between full-duplex terminals () and half-duplex terminals ().

Method and apparatus for interactive communication between half-duplex and full-duplex systems

The present invention addresses the need for providing dispatch service to dispatch clients via a packet-switched network, such as the Internet, by disclosing a network dispatch manager, a dispatch gateway, a method for a network dispatch manager to provide dispatch service, and a method for a dispatch gateway to provide dispatch service. Dispatch service is provided via a multicast capable, packet-switched network (,) connecting a network dispatch manager (,) to dispatch gateways (,) and a packet-switched network (,), such as the Internet, connecting the dispatch gateways to dispatch clients (,). The network dispatch manager (,) assigns a multicast group to each dispatch gateway and uses the multicast group to multicast voice packets to the dispatch gateways (,). The dispatch gateways (,), in turn, perform any required packet duplication needed to forward the voice packets, via the packet-switched network (,), to the dispatch clients involved in the dispatch call. Thus, dispatch service can be provided to dispatch clients in addition to wireless devices.
