A wound dressing including a porous biosynthetic polymer film comprising a poly(lactide-co-caprolactone) ('PLC') copolymer or other suitable polymer matrix, and a local analgesic loaded therein, to provide pain relief over an extended period of time (e.g., for 5-7 days), e.g., for healing of a partial thickness dermal injury. The PLC copolymer may have a particular lactide/caprolactone molar ratio (e.g., from 2:1 to 9:1) to ensure slow, sustained release of the bupivacaine or other analgesic. The dressing may provide a water vapor transmission rate from 1000 g/m·day to 3000 g/m·day to facilitate fast healing and regrowth of new epithelial tissue beneath the dressing. The dressing is configured to remain positioned over the dermal injury, providing wound protection for about 14 days, after which is simply debrides away, falls off, or is easily and painlessly removed, once new epithelial tissue regrows.

Multi-functional analgesic-releasing wound dressing

An opioid independent surgical anesthetic composition includes an injectable dosage form of a hydrogel having a plurality of solid lipid matrix particles entrapped therein. The solid lipid matrix particles include a lipophilic local anesthetic drug and a lipid glyceride (e.g., saturated triglyceride or lipid blend of various lipid glycerides). Methods for creating a long-acting local anesthetic product can include creating a bulk solid of a lipid matrix product by heating a lipid solvent above its melting point, dissolving a lipophilic local anesthetic drug therein, reducing a temperature of the resultant drug-lipid solution to below the melting point of the lipid solvent, and heat annealing the lipid matrix to remove or reduce presence of any unstable polymorphs in the lipid matrix. The methods can further include crushing the bulk solid of the lipid matrix product to form solid lipid matrix particles and entrapping the solid lipid matrix particles within a hydrogel.

Opioid independent surgical anesthetic

An implant assembly for a long bone is adapted to support an exo-prosthesis. The assembly includes a stem, a subdermal component and a percutaneous post. The stem has a proximal end that is adapted to be received in a surgically prepared medullary canal of the long bone, and a distal end having a surface that is adapted to promote bone ingrowth. The subdermal component includes a proximal portion that is adapted for attachment to the distal end of the stem, and a fixation surface that is adapted to promote soft tissue fixation. The percutaneous post has a proximal end that is adapted to be attached to the subdermal component.

Percutaneous osseointegrated implant assembly for use in supporting an exo-prosthesis

Implementations of the present disclosure relate to apparatuses, systems, and methods for anastomosing vascular systems in medical procedures. A pair of similar or identical coupling devices may be disposed at the ends of two vessels, either natural or synthetic. The coupling devices may be capable of hermaphroditically connecting to one another to provide a simple and secure connection which promotes growth of the vessels between the bio-absorbable coupling devices.

Vascular coupling device

A nerve repair conduit configured to be secured on first and second portions of a selected nerve. The nerve repair conduit includes a polymeric body having a proximal end, a distal end, an exterior surface and an interior surface defining an interior lumen. In addition, the nerve conduit includes at least one drug reservoir to hold agent(s) that may facilitate nerve regeneration. The drugs diffuse from the drug reservoir(s) into the nerve repair conduit through an outlet (such as a hole or a semipermeable membrane) in proximity to the first and second portions of a selected nerve. The nerve repair conduit may be configured to deliver the agent(s) at a rate having substantially zero-order kinetics and/or at a constant rate over a selected period of time.

Methods and devices for connecting nerves

A nerve repair conduit configured to be secured on first and second portions of a selected nerve. The nerve repair conduit includes a polymeric body having a proximal end, a distal end, an exterior surface and an interior surface defining an interior lumen. In addition, the nerve conduit includes at least one drug reservoir to hold agent(s) that may, for example, facilitate nerve regeneration. The drugs diffuse from the drug reservoir(s) into the nerve repair conduit through an outlet (e.g., a semipermeable membrane) in proximity to the first and second portions of a selected nerve. The nerve repair conduit may be configured to deliver the agent(s) at a rate having substantially zero-order kinetics and/or at a constant rate over a selected period of time (e.g., at least 1 week).

Methods, devices, apparatus, assemblies, and kits for performing a vascular anastomosis are disclosed. A device for a vascular anastomosis includes tissue engaging portions that can move between at least two configurations. In some embodiments, the tissue engaging portions move without the aid of moving parts, while in other embodiments the tissue engaging portions extend from one or more movable wings. The tissue engaging portions may be separated by a first distance when in a pre-deployment configuration and by a second distance when in a deployed configuration. A method includes engaging a plurality of tissue engaging members of a coupling device against first end tissue. After selectively engaging the tissue engaging members and first end tissue, the first end tissue is stretched by at least moving the tissue engaging members. The stretched first end tissue is coupled to the second end tissue by mating the coupling device to a mating anastomosis device.

Methods, devices and apparatus for performing a vascular anastomosis

A mechanical leech system may include a fluid exchange assembly. The fluid exchange assembly may be attached to a patient's target tissue area via suturing or the like, and may be activated to perform blood removal and treatment agent infusion. The fluid exchange assembly may include an inflow pathway for infusion of treatment agents into the tissue area, and an outflow pathway for removal of blood. The outflow pathway may be sized and/or shaped to promote laminar fluid flow and avoid coagulation. The assembly may include a channel housing, gasket, and base. Needles seated in the assembly may receive blood from a patient and infuse a treatment agent into the patient. The assembly may be connectable to a pump to urge the blood and the treatment agent through the inflow and outflow pathways. A cradle optionally provides protection and storage for the assembly.
