Synergistic flame retardant compositions and fiber blends including the same

A flexible circuit module is disclosed. The flexible circuit module includes a fabric member including a plurality of fibers having non-conductive elements, and conductive elements oriented through the plane of the fabric. Each conductive element includes a first fiber element strand and a first unterminated end opposite the first fiber element strand, and a second fiber element strand having second unterminated end opposite the second fiber element strand. The fabric member further includes a first side with the first fiber element strands extending therefrom and a second side with second fiber element strands extending therefrom. A first hook-and-loop busbar is conductively connected to the first fiber element strands and a second hook-and-loop busbar is conductively connected to the second fiber element strands.

A method of forming a crosslinked polyphenol, the method comprising: reacting a bio-based phenolic compound comprising at least one phenolic hydroxyl group, with a crosslinking agent comprising at least two functional groups reactive with the phenolic hydroxyl group, wherein the at least two functional groups are each independently a halogen group, acid halide group, sulfonyl halide group, glycidyl group, anhydride group, or a combination comprising at least one of the foregoing, to provide the crosslinked polyphenol.

A polymer is characterized by a repeat unit represented by Structural Formula (I): or a copolymer thereof. An assembled hematin is formed by depositing hematin on an electrically charged substrate in one or more layers alternating with one or more layers of polyelectrolyte, preferably a cationic polymer. In a method for polymerizing an aromatic monomer, the assembled hematin is contacted with the monomer and a template, preferably an anionic polymer. In a method for polymerizing aniline, the aniline, sulfonated multi walled carbon nano tubes, PEG hematin and a reaction initiator are dispersed in water.

Hematin, a hydroxyferriprotoporphyrin, is derivatized with one or more non-proteinaceous amphipathic groups. The derivatized hematin can serve as a mimic of horseradish peroxidase in polymerizing aromatic monomers, such as aromatic compounds. These derivatized hematins can also be used as catalysts in polymerizing aromatic monomers, and can exhibit significantly greater catalytic activity than underivatized hematin in acidic solutions. In one embodiment, polymerization is in the presence of a template, along which aromatic monomers align. An assembled hematin includes alternating layers of hematin and a polyelectrolyte, which are deposited on an electrically charged substrate. Assembled hematin can also be used to polymerize aromatic monomers.
