A surgical instrument can be introduced to the abdominal cavity through a current trocar puncture to place a suture in the deep facia and peritoneum of the anterior abdominal wall. The instrument is lightweight and easy to use, and can be operated quickly and efficiently to close the trocar puncture wound in a simple and economical manner. The instrument is used to suture the deep facia and peritoneum of the anterior abdominal wall on opposite sides of the trocar puncture wound inside the abdomen to close the trocar puncture wound.

Instrument to close fascia during laparoscopic surgery

A tool for use in assisting soft tissue mobilization and bodily tissue amelioration, such as stimulation of superficial tissue, deep tissue mobilization, breaking up scar tissue, and soft tissue massaging, are described. The tool comprises a device for application to bodily tissue that includes a body having a substantially teardrop shape in a vertical section. In a longitudinal aspect, the body includes a first and a second portion. The first portion of the device corresponds at least in part to a substantially bulbous handle part of the teardrop shape of the vertical section and is adapted for ease of grasping and manipulation at the first end. The second portion of the device corresponds at least in part to a substantially tapered converging double-beveled linear edge of the teardrop shape of the vertical section and is adapted for facilitated application of the device to bodily tissue at the second end.

Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization tool

Methods for stimulating exocytosis from a cell are provided where the same electrochemical microelectrode is used to electroporate an adjacent cell and then measure quantal exocytosis from the adjacent cell. Also provided are methods for stimulating and measuring exocytosis from a select cell population arrayed on a chip comprising addressable electrodes. Calcium independent stimulation of exocytosis with inorganic anions such as chloride ions is also provided. These methods can provide for specific stimulation of a desired subset of cells without exposing other nearby cells to the stimulus.
