Shaped waterproofing membranes having three-dimensional contours are useful for the 'reverse tanking' waterproofing of detail areas such as those presented by 'tiebacks,' pipes, pile caps, and other irregularities that occur on concrete formworks and other civil construction or building surfaces. A preferred method for making such membranes is to thermoform a membrane laminate, having a carrier support sheet, waterproofing adhesive, and optionally a protective coating layer, as a single unit.

Three-dimensional reverse tanking membranes

Improved compositions of the present invention are made from a rubber latex component (A) and an oil carrier component (B) having hygroscopic and vulcanizing agents. Upon intermixing of the components A and B, an elastomeric composition is formed that can undergo a rheological transformation from a flowable liquid to a solidified elastomeric solid. An improved linear slope between fluidity and temperature is achieved by using naphthenic oil in the oil carrier component (B) with an organic rheology modifier, such as a modified castor oil and/or a polyamide. Further exemplary compositions comprise an inorganic rheology modifier such as an activated clay.

Rheologically-dynamic, liquid-applicable elastomeric compositions

For waterproofing civil engineering structures using flexible, sheet-like waterproofing laminates which can be applied without primer to structures at temperatures of 40.degree. F. and above. Primerless waterproofing laminates having a bituminous layer comprising 29 to 54 weight percent asphalt, 25 to 50 weight percent process oil, and 16 to 35 weight percent thermoplastic block polymer of styrene and butandiene monomers.

Disclosed are methods for waterproofing civil engineering structures using flexible, sheet-like waterproofing laminates which are applied to structures at temperatures as low as 0.degree. F. Also, disclosed are low-temperature-applicable waterproofing laminates having a bituminous layer comprising 29 to 54 weight percent asphalt, 25 to 50 weight percent process oil, and 16 to 35 weight percent thermoplastic block polymer of styrene and butadiene monomers.
