Improved instrument pad surgical drape for use during surgical procedures is disclosed which is resistant to melting caused by high intensity light generated from sources such as fiberoptic illumination systems. The instrument pad and drape comprise an infrared energy reflective film/foam laminate that may also have a high coefficient of friction which is useful for retaining surgical instruments in place and preventing them from slipping off the pad during a surgical procedure.

Method of making high intensity light resistant instrument pads

The present invention is directed to novel equipment drapes for use with an Interventional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (IMRI) device. An IMRI device enables medical personnel to obtain magnetic resonance imaging data on a patient and, at the same time, perform surgery on the patient. An IMRI device requires specialty equipment. The present invention is directed to one form of specialty equipment, equipment drapes. Equipment drapes of the present invention have a U-shape or rectangular shape and are attached to the IMRI machine to maintain a sterile field and to provide a barrier against fluids escaping from a surgery patient. In one embodiment, the present invention discloses an equipment drape having a U-shape with a retractable flap positioned with the 'U' portion of the drape. In a further embodiment, the present invention discloses an equipment drape having a U-shape with a retractable pouch positioned with the 'U' portion of the drape. The pouch is designed to temporarily house surgical instruments during a surgical procedure. Another embodiment of the present invention is directed to an equipment drape set which includes four equipment drapes attached to the IMRI device and positioned such that at least a portion of a patient within the IMRI device is partially separated from the surgical team.

Equipment drape for use with an interventional magnetic resonance

Disclosed is an elastic strip having a length which terminates at first and second generally opposed ends and a width which terminates at generally opposed edges. The strip has a first surface which includes an area of loops located near one of the opposed ends and a second surface which includes an area of hooks located near the other second opposed end. The strip is adapted to elongate and recover at least along the strip's length and the hooks are configured to engage the loops to join the first and second surfaces of the strip together. The device may be utilized to effect retention of a surgical glove in place upon the forearm of the wearer by encircling the wrist or forearm of the wearer of the surgical glove with the device, stretching the device about the gloved wrist/forearm and joining the opposed ends of the device about the gloved wrist/forearm. The device can be designed to be used only one time and then disposed. That is the device can be a 'single use' device.

Surgical glove retainer

A garment, such as a surgical gown, having a liquid impervious sleeve and a liquid retentive/impervious cuff is provided. The sleeve may be formed from a fibrous web secured to a liquid impervious film. The cuff may be formed from a liquid retentive layer and a liquid impervious layer. The cuff may be made elastic by securing an elastic layer between the liquid retentive layer and the liquid impervious layer. In another embodiment, the cuff may include inner and outer liquid retentive layers, wherein the liquid impervious layer and the elastic layer are captured therebetween.

Surgical gown sleeve

Disclosed herein is an eye mask with a soft, comfortable frame assembly which makes it particularly well-suited for use in surgical, dental and healthcare related applications. In a preferred embodiment the eye mask has separated lenses attached to an elastic nonwoven frame to provide an adjustable fit for a wide variety of facial contours and eye spacings. The lenses may be provided with anti-glare and anti-fog treatments to maintain visual clarity during use. The frame may be breathable and treated to have specific areas of hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity so as to absorb perspiration and resist penetration of fluids splashed or sprayed onto the face during surgical procedures.

Surgical eye mask

Disclosed herein is a surgical drape or patient cover for use in central venous catheterizations of patients who require intravenous drug therapy and/or parenteral nutrition. The patient cover includes a mainsheet and a reinforcement sheet with two spaced apart triangular shaped fenestrations for use in the insertion of a central venous catheter into either the subclavian or basilic areas of the body.
