Embodiments provide techniques for enhancing an existing image after image acquisition. These techniques include sub-sampling the original image, identifying and/or deriving local region brightness, and using the local region brightness to enhance the contrast of pixels within these regions in the original image. Sub-sampling is generally used to reduce the number of pixels and corresponding computational load. Local region brightness is localized brightness in an image determined based on the dark and light regions within the image by, for example, using a 2-D Gaussian filter. The use of the local region brightness to enhance the image may be accomplished using a lookup table that may be configured to implement a variety of techniques, for example, contrast overlay, Alpha blending, and the like, for contrast enhancement in the dark and light regions.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method of color trapping to improve perceived image quality. The color trapping may be subject to one or more configurable parameters, to accommodate differences in printing processes and conditions.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method comprising accessing a first pixel that is neighboring to a second pixel of an image, the first pixel including a plurality of color fields, each color field of the plurality of color fields associated with a respective color plane, wherein the second pixel is to be processed as a target pixel; quantizing the plurality of color fields to generate a corresponding plurality of quantized color fields, wherein said quantizing the plurality of color fields is based on a contribution of individual color planes of the plurality of color planes towards an intensity of the image; and processing the target pixel based at least in part on the plurality of quantized color fields. Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method for adjusting parameters of an algorithm for enhancing an image. In various embodiments, the method includes automatically analyzing an image to identify at least one image attribute; based on the at least one image attribute, automatically determining a value of at least one parameter for an image processing algorithm; and applying the value of at least one parameter to the image processing algorithm. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Method and apparatus for automatically tuning a parameter of an image enhancement algorithm based on an attribute of an original image

A scan-based state save and restore method and system for inactive state power reduction. An integrated circuit that has an inactive state has normal circuitry and scan circuitry. Upon receipt of a sleep signal, the state of the normal circuitry is accessed by employing scan circuitry. The state is then stored in a memory. The power is disconnected from the normal circuitry. Upon wake-up, the normal circuitry is re-connected to the power. The state of the circuit is accessed from the memory and restored to the normal circuitry by employing scan circuitry.
