A plasma separation system and process for providing filtered plasma from a blood sample is described. The system may include a blood separation well having a separation membrane for filtering the blood sample. The filtering process may be aided by the use of a negative or positive pressure source attached to the plasma separation system.

The control system has a processor executing processor executable code to: control a potentiostat to apply a first voltage potential sufficient to induce a first electrochemical reaction of a target analyte or a reaction byproduct of the target analyte in a sample of the calibration reagent and receive a first reading from the potentiostat; control the potentiostat to apply a second voltage potential insufficient to induce a second electrochemical reaction of the target analyte or a reaction byproduct of the target analyte in the sample of the calibration reagent and receive a second reading from the potentiostat; calculate calibration parameters using the first reading, the second reading and a multi-point calibration algorithm; and measure a target analyte concentration within the fluid sample using the calibration parameters.

A liquid deposition system comprises a liquid delivery assembly including a dispensing probe having a sidewall including a first end having a liquid port and a second end having a tip, and a flow path opening at the tip and fluidly connected with the liquid port. The system includes a gas injection assembly with a manifold having a gas nozzle, a nozzle opening, and a gas port, the gas nozzle configured to eject a substantially laminar gas stream so that the gas stream travels through a travel path, the tip of the dispensing probe extending into the travel path. The liquid port is fluidly connectable with a liquid source and the gas port is fluidly connectable with a pressurized gas source, so that a liquid micro droplet is formed at the tip. The laminar gas stream separates the micro droplet from the tip and carries it through the travel path.

Non-contact micro droplet dispenser and method

Provided is a method of preparing dye-based reference materials useful for calibrating or qualifying instrument systems that are diagnostic spectroscopically for hemoglobin and CO-ox fractions. The dye-based reference materials are non-proteinaceous and may be interpreted by CO-oximeter instrument systems as providing a spectrum substantially equivalent to the spectrum of blood, particularly with regard to hemoglobin and hemoglobin CO-ox fractions. Dye-based reference materials may be formulated to provide CO-ox fractions approximating those seen in a clinical setting, including normal physiological CO-ox fractions. The dye-based reference materials may be combined with other ingredients thus making the materials useful as references for pH and blood gas instruments and/or electrolyte instruments in addition to CO-oximeter instrument systems.
