This disclosure relates to a device to mechanically and electrically connect with a touch screen computing device, such as a tablet computer. The device can include a platform that can be moved into and out of physical contact with a surface of a touch screen. During engagement with the surface, the moveable platform electrically interacts with the touch screen (e.g., via capacitive coupling) to enable detection by the touch screen of contact members (e.g., pegs) even in the absence of user contact with the pegs.

Apparatus and related method to facilitate test via a computing device

This disclosure relates to a system and method to implement a performance test to help evaluate a patient's neurological and cognitive function. The performance test can be executed by the patient autonomously using a portable computing device, such as a tablet computer or smart phone. The portable computing device can be programmed to execute a set of modules configured to assess motor and cognitive performance, such as a manual function test module, a cognitive processing speed test module, and a movement assessment test module. The set of modules can also include a collection module to aggregate test data from the manual function test module, the cognitive processing speed test module, and the movement assessment test module.

In an example embodiment, this disclosure provides a non-transitive computer-readable medium on which are stored instructions executable by a processor, the instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform a method. The method includes computing, based on test performance data of a user, at least one of a performance variable characterizing cognitive functioning and a performance variable characterizing neuromotor functioning. For each of the at least one performance variable, a respective score can be computed based on the respective performance variable and based on a set of performance metrics. The method can also include outputting, via an output device, the at least one computed score.

Devices, systems and methods are described that can facilitate automated administration of a low contrast visual acuity test to a user. The low contrast visual acuity test can be administered using a display device and a computing device. The computing device can score results of the low contrast visual acuity test and determine a visual status of the user based on the score.

This disclosure relates to a system and method to analyze balance and stability of a patient. Test data for the patient, representing motion of a device affixed to the patient during a test interval (e.g., at a position approximating the center of mass, such as in proximity to the torso), can be received. The test data can be processed to provide processed data (or sensor-derived data) that includes at least one of acceleration data, rotational rate data and rotational position data for the test interval. A biomechanical model can be applied to the processed data to provide center of mass (COM) motion data representing movement of the COM in multiple dimensions for the patient during the test interval. An indication of balance for the patient can be determined based on the COM motion data. The indication of balance can be used to analyze the balance and stability of the patient.

Devices, systems and methods are described that can facilitate recognition of an engagement between an object and a touch screen in the absence of human contact. Upon the engagement, an electrically conductive path can be established that extends from a surface of the touch screen such that sufficient electrons flow from the touch screen through the electrically conductive path to enable the recognition of the object on the touch screen in the absence of human contact with the object during continued presence of the object on the touch screen.

This disclosure relates to a system and method to evaluate movement disorders. A movement data aggregator can combine data from a plurality of sensors into an aggregate movement data describing multi-dimensional movement of a handheld device. A calculator to compute an indication of a movement disorder based on the movement vector data and user input data, the user input data being generated in response to physical interaction between the handheld device and a human machine interface of a computing device/machine that is separate from the handheld device. In some examples, the handheld device can communicate with computing device via a wireless interface.

A cognitive and/or motor skill testing system and method may include a processor that records respective time information for each of multiple positions of a display device that are traced during administration of a test, that determines speed and/or velocity values based on the recorded time information, and that outputs test result information based on the determined values. The test result information may be based on a comparison between a graphed curve of such values to an ideal curve. The positions may correspond to a path between displayed targets whose size and/or distance therebetween depend on past test performance. The system and/or method may output a change expected with a change to therapy parameters for a patient, where the expected change is determined based on changes which occurred in other patients having similar test results and therapy parameters as those of the patient.

In an example embodiment, this disclosure provides a computer system that includes a processor configured to compute, based on test performance data of a user, at least one performance variable characterizing balance and postural stability, and at least one performance variable characterizing vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR). For each performance variable, processor can compute a respective score based on the respective performance variable and based on a set of performance metrics. The at least one computed score can be output via an output device.
