Disclosed herein is a process to produce a laminate comprises coating at least an outer surface of a dynamically vulcanized alloy film with an adhesive composition to produce the laminate, wherein the adhesive layer has a thickness of less than or equal to about 5 microns, wherein the dynamically vulcanized alloy film comprises a thermoplastic elastomer composition containing a thermoplastic resin as a continuous phase, and a rubber composition dispersed therein, as a dispersed phase. A laminate and a pneumatic tire comprising the laminate are also disclosed.

Methods and apparatus for forming blends of polyolefin and resin modifier

A heat-shrinkable film. The film comprising at least one layer having at least one propylene-based polymer comprising 60 wt % to 98 wt % propylene derived units and 2 wt % to 40 wt % one or more other alpha olefins, the propylene-based polymer having: a triad tacticity of 70% or more, a heat of fusion of less than 80 J/g, a weight average molecular weight (Mw) as measured by GPC of from 70,000 to 250,000. The layer also comprises at least one thermoplastic resin and at least one hydrocarbon resin.

High shrinkage propylene-based films

Thermoplastic films particularly suited for use in bags including at least a core layer comprising an ethylene copolymer, wherein the films are subjected to post-quench biaxial orientation are provided. Optionally, the films may have a first skin layer and/or a second skin layer located on each side of the core layer. Embodiments may have the desirable combination of improved puncture toughness and ultimate tensile strength, low manufacturing cost and desirable optical and tactile properties.

The present invention is directed to a biaxially oriented multi-layer film which comprises: (a) a core layer comprising a syndiotactic propylene homopolymer; and (b) at least one additional layer adjacent to the core layer comprising a polymer which is an ethylene or a propylene homopolymer, ethylene copolymer or terpolymer containing comonomers of propylene and/or butene-1. Optionally, there can be a skin layer applied to the exposed surface of the outer layer. The skin layer and/or the at least one additional layer is a polyolefin selected from the group consisting of isotactic polypropylene, polyethylene, ethylene-propylene random copolymer, ethylene-propylene block copolymer or ethylene-propylene-butene-1 terpolymer.

Multi-layer film with core layer of syndiotactic polypropylene

A thermoplastic film having a substantially continuous, adherent coating on at least one surface, wherein the coating includes a polymeric binder and nano-scale particles. When the coating is formed on the surface of the film, the nano-scale particles form a barrier that substantially reduces the diffusion of moisture and oxygen. In preferred embodiments, the coating includes a polymeric binder and silicate particles formed on a base substrate layer that includes a polyolefin selected from the group consisting of homopolymers, copolymers, and terpolymers of propylene, ethylene, butylene, and blends thereof.

A heat-sealable multilayer film comprising: (a) an upper heat-sealable layer comprising (I) an ethylene polymer, copolymer, or terpolymer and (ii) a particulate, crosslinked hydrocarbyl-substituted polysiloxane having a mean particle size of from about 0.5 &mgr;m to about 20.0 &mgr;m, as a combined slip agent and antiblocking agent; (b) an intermediate core layer comprising a propylene polymer; and (c) a lower heat-sealable layer consisting essentially of (I) an ethylene polymer, copolymer, or terpolymer, (ii) a particulate, crosslinked hydrocarbyl-substituted polysiloxane having a mean particle size of from about 0.5 &mgr;m to about 20.0 &mgr;m, as a combined slip agent and antiblocking agent; and (iii) from about 0.15 wt% to about 1.5 wt% of a liquid, hydrocarbyl-substituted polysiloxane. The upper heat-sealable sealable layer does not contain a liquid polysiloxane, but may have a coating of liquid polysiloxane transferred from the lower heat-sealable layer.

Multi-layer oriented heat sealable film structure of improved machinability

A multi layer film having enhanced barrier properties with respect to oxygen and water vapor transmission as well as an excellent surface for film laminating, printing and coating processes is provided. The multi layer film includes a polyolefin core layer having a wax therein, a first surface layer including a polyolefin copolymer or terpolymer layer, and a second surface layer including a polar layer having ester functionality. Multi layer films according to the present invention are particularly useful as packaging films for food products, and are particularly well suited for subsequent laminating, printing or coating operations.

The film has a base layer which includes a blend of a high crystallinity polypropylene having an isotactic stereoregularity greater than about 93%, a conventional isotactic polypropylene having an isotactic stereoregularity of from about 90% to about 93%, and up to about 9% by weight of a resin modifier.

Multi-layer heat-sealable polypropylene films

A process for manufacturing a metallized polymeric film to provide a structure possessing high metal-to-film adhesion and little, if any, tendency toward metal fracture is disclosed. In one embodiment of the process, at least one polyolefin layer is provided to a film which includes a substantially isotactic polymer having a degree of atacticity of no more than about 6%. The isotactic component is preferably polypropylene homopolymer. Other components include up to about 34% of an adhesive-promoting component which can be a C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 polymer, including homo-, co-, and terpolymers having C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 carbon chains, and a second isotactic polymer having a degree of atacticity of from about 6% to about 15%. The surface of the polyolefin layer is subjected to flame treatment followed by vacuum metallization of this surface (preferably with aluminum).
