A system that provides reliable blade damping with the capability to limit vibration in the blade tips to inconsequential amplitudes. A preferred embodiment of the invention comprises configurations of stationary electromagnets placed on a turboengine in three groups of three magnets, each separated circumferentially by 120 degrees, and each being powered and controlled by one central electronics module. The module can turn on the magnetic fields when the rotor is at a known critical speed or passing through a range of speeds that are known to cause large vibrations. Each blade tip enters the magnetic field of each electromagnet which is turned on once in a complete rotation. The electromagnets are located on or embedded in the casing surrounding the blade disk assembly. The blades may be of either magnetic or nonmagnetic material, but must be able to conduct an electrical current. As the blades cut through the lines of force of the electromagnets, bi-circulating eddy currents are set up in conformance to Faraday's Law of Magnetic Induction. The vibratory motions in the blades are dampened by the forces of the eddy currents. The preferred application of this invention is to gas turbine engines used to power passenger, cargo and military aircraft. Other possible applications include damping steam turbine blades for power stations and nuclear reactor systems.

This invention relates to a water reclamation system for reclaiming grey water and ground water from sources associated with a domestic dwelling and subsequently utilizing such water in conjunction with a landscape irrigation system. The system generally comprises a storage reservoir which is fluidly connected to a main irrigation line comprising the landscape irrigation system. The reservoir includes a number of inlet conduits connected thereto which are in fluid communication with grey water sources from within the dwelling and with yard drains which receive ground water. The reservoir also includes an overflow line interfaced thereto which is adapted to drain excess water from within the reservoir to a main sewage line. The water provided to the irrigation system via the storage reservoir is supplied only as an alternative to water which may be supplied thereto via a main water line.

A gyroscope which has a spinning fluid filled annulus as an inertial angle rate sensor is compensated for inertial drift by resolving an output signal from the sensor into acceleration proportional components related to the gimbal axes and the component related to the inner axis is applied to the outer axis, and the component related to the outer axis is applied to the inner axis to cancel out the effects of drift.

A kinematic inertial sensor is provided for measuring angular velocity and position relative to inertial space about one or more measurement axes. The kinematic inertial sensor includes an angular rate sensor having a ring of conducting fluid contained in a housing, a set of gimbals for supporting the angular rate sensor, signal generating means, torque applying means, angle measuring means, resolver means, component processing means, and signal applying means.

In a gyroscope including a rotor spinning about a spin axis, the rotor gimballed about two mutually perpendicular axes and including cross coupled closed loops operative on the two mutually perpendicular axes so as to be able to detect rates about said two axes, a feedback loop is provided to cause the gyroscope spin axis to nutate in a cone about its nominal, blind, spin axis at a controlled amplitude and at a frequency which is at least close to the natural nutation frequency of the gyro and the nutation detected and changes in the nutation amplitude or frequency used as a measure of the rate about the blind axis.

Three axis gyro

A gyro seeker which is capable of use in a cannon launched missile. The gyro seeker is enclosed in a housing mounted in the nose section of the missile. The platform of the gyro seeker supports an optical assembly, a detector, a gyro assembly, and a cryostat for cooling the detector. Means are provided on the outer gimbal of the platform for withstanding the extreme acceleration induced by cannon launching. The platform is torqueable along two axes by a plurality of pole pieces located around its base. A platform caging device is provided to cage the platform during transport and serves a dual function as a means to furnish spin-up gas to the gyro element and cooling gas to the cryostat.
