A system and method are provided for sending a first message to a recipient using a messaging channel, the message including information identifying an electronic news article provided by a data channel; receiving a second message from the recipient over the messaging channel, the second message having been composed in a news application; and displaying the second message in association with the electronic news article in the news application. A system and method are also provided for receiving a first message from a sender over a messaging channel, the message including information identifying an electronic news article provided by a data channel; obtaining the electronic news article using the data channel; enabling a second message to be composed in a news application displaying the electronic news article; and sending the second message to the sender using the messaging channel.

System and method for sharing electronic news items

Data is received by a first device from a first source, where the data contains a link to a particular web page. Responsive to the data, a repository of syndicated content items associated with web pages is accessed. If a particular syndicated content item associated with the particular web page is in the repository, the particular syndicated content item is retrieved and provided to a second device for display at the second device.

An improved hand held electronic device and an associated method provide facilitated telephone dialing by providing audible sound tags in the form of spoken words representative of numbers that can be selected by a user for dialing. The handheld electronic device includes an input apparatus that can generate a plurality of navigational inputs and at least a first selecting input. The input apparatus may include a rotatable dial, the rotation of which provides navigational inputs, and the dial may be translatable, with the translation generating a selecting input. When a processor of the handheld electronic device detects one of the navigational inputs, the handheld electronic device outputs an audible sound in the form of a spoken word of the digit that corresponds with that navigational input.

Content is managed and delivered to mobile devices, often through a wireless network. Mobile devices have content management software containing instructions to receive and manage content at the mobile device. Content management servers select and manage content and transmit content to the mobile devices, receiving requests for content, and up-to-date information regarding quantity of content to be transmitted. Up-to-date information regarding quantity is repeatedly sent and received, and content is repeatedly selected and transmitted using the information to make selections. Specific embodiments provide methods, systems, and devices for automatically managing content to increase the probability that the user is gaining access to the content they want to see and for decreasing the chance that the delivery of content is tying up limited resources of mobile devices.

Managing content to constrained devices

Pixel data is stored in a field corresponding to a pixel of an image. The field includes an opacity bit and a set of bits. If the opacity bit is set to an opaque-indicating state, then a color level value of a component color of the pixel is stored in the set of bits. However, if the opacity bit is set to a transparency-indicating state, then a transparency level value is stored in at least one bit of the set of bits and the respective color level value is stored in other bits of the set of bits.

Pixel data is stored in a data field corresponding to a pixel of an image. The data field includes an opacity bit, a first set of bits, and a second set of bits. If the opacity bit is set to an opaque-indicating state, then a color level value of a first component color of the pixel is stored in the first set of bits and a color level value of a second component color of the pixel is stored in the second set of bits. However, if the opacity bit is set to a transparency-indicating state, then a transparency level value is stored in at least one bit of each set, of the first and second sets, of bits and the respective color level value is stored in other bits of each set, of the first and second sets, of bits.

A computer implemented method of processing image pixel data corresponding to an image pixel comprises determining if the image pixel is opaque or transparent. If the image pixel is determined to be opaque, a pixel color value from a first set of image pixel data is determined. If the image pixel is determined to be transparent, a transparency value from a second set of the image pixel data and a pixel color value from a third set of the image pixel data is determined. The second and third sets of the image pixel data are subsets of the first set of image pixel data.

A parametric geometric element definition and generation system and method is described herein. 3D model of geometric objects are generated by execution of one or more directed acyclic graphs having a plurality of nodes which represent various modeling operations and parameters or properties used in defining and generating geometric elements. In further embodiments, an object player monitors modeling operations of nodes and communications with the rendering system to dynamically adapt the performance and format of the rendering system. A notification mechanism is used where nodes may send and/or listen for change events. A modification to one or more properties of node or nodes may trigger the transmission of a change event throughout the directed graph.
