A visor mounting pin that pulls the covering cloth inside the substrate halves during the same operation as pin insertion thereby eliminating the entire secondary tabbing operation and the use of an adhesive. The visor mounting pin includes a plurality of fasteners hidden from view when installed in a visor. A first fastener retains the visor mounting pin to the vehicle interior, a second fastener affixes covering material to the visor substrate by tension, and a third fastener attaches the visor mounting pin to the visor substrate. Preferably, the first, second, and third fasteners are integrally molded as one complete piece.

No-tabbing visor mounting pin

A sun visor assembly is attached to a vehicle headliner near a vehicle windshield and includes a visor substrate body covered by fabric material that is moveable between a raised position and a lowered position. The visor assembly includes a control arm that is mounted to a vehicle support structure, such as a roof, for example. The control arm rotatably supports the visor substrate with respect to the vehicle support structure. In the lowered position the visor substrate is rotated downwardly about the control arm to partially block a top portion of the windshield so that sunlight is prevented from shining directly into an occupant's eyes. In the raised position, the visor is rotated upwardly so that it is near the headliner and does not block the windshield. The visor assembly also includes a control member that connects the control arm to the visor substrate body. The control member selectively positions the visor substrate at various positions between the raised and lowered positions. The control member has a tab that extends in a first direction and a plurality of barbs that extend in a second direction different than the first direction. The tab and barbs retain the control member to the visor substrate.

Torque control member for a visor assembly

A sun visor includes a visor body attached to a pivot rod. The sun visor is pivotally mounted to a vehicle roof and/or headliner by using a visor mount assembly. The visor mount assembly includes a mounting bracket, attached to the pivot rod, and a mount for securing the rod to the roof. The mount includes a base that attaches to the mounting bracket, and a plurality of spring members that extend outwardly from the base. The base is substantially triangular in shape and further includes base legs that extend outwardly from the base at an angle. Each spring member includes a cross piece, at least one first leg connecting the cross piece to the base, and at least one second leg extending outwardly from the cross piece in a cantilevered manner. When the sun visor mounted onto the vehicle roof by using the mount, the roof is located between the base and the second leg of each of the spring members.

Snap-in mount

A sun visor includes a visor body attached to a pivot rod. The sun visor is pivotally mounted to a vehicle roof and/or headliner by using a visor mount assembly. The visor mount assembly includes a mounting bracket, attached to the pivot rod, and a mount for securing the rod and the mounting bracket to the roof or other mounting surface. The mount includes a multi-sided base that is spaced above the mounting surface. The base is substantially triangular in shape with three sides. Each side has a first leg, a second leg, and a third leg attached to the base in a cantilevered fashion. The first and second legs flex inwardly as the mount is inserted through a mounting hole in the roof. The third legs include a flat tab extension which forms a mounting point for attachment of the mount to the headliner and mounting bracket. Ultimately, the roof is gripped between the first and second legs of the mount when the sun visor mounted onto the vehicle roof. The triangular shape of the mount prevents rotation from occurring between the mount and the roof.

Triangular snap-in mount

A sliding visor includes a rod assembly and a visor body. The rod assembly includes a rod, a torque control, and a guide. The rod extends longitudinally. The torque control pivotally attaches to the rod. The guide is fixed to one side of the torque control. The visor body includes a bore and a track. The bore extends longitudinally between the channel and the rear edge of the visor body. The rod is received within the bore and extends into the visor body. The track extends longitudinally along the upper surface of the visor body. The track forms a substantially enclosed longitudinally extending passage adjacent the upper surface of the visor body. The passage is shaped to receive a portion of the guide. When the visor is moved longitudinally along the rod, the track slides with respect to the guide.
