An elevator system (') includes a portable emergency stop switch (′), arranged to transmit a signal () when activated, a signal receiver (′), arranged to receive the signal (′) transmitted by the portable emergency stop switch (′); and an elevator safety actuator (′) and an elevator safety brake (′). In response to receipt of the signal (′), the signal receiver (′) is arranged to trigger the elevator safety actuator (′) to deploy the elevator safety brake (′).

Safety brake trigger

A sheave () for a passenger conveyor system is provided. The sheave () comprises a sheave axis () about which the sheave () rotates; a cylindrical sleeve (); and a bearing () centred on and arranged to rotate about the sheave axis (). The cylindrical sleeve () includes an outer surface () including a groove () arranged to receive a belt; and an inner surface () defining a cylindrical cavity () centred on the sheave axis (). The bearing () includes an outer race (), an inner race () and one or more rolling elements () therebetween, wherein the outer race () comprises a protrusion () arranged to hold the bearing () within the cylindrical cavity () due to engagement between the protrusion () and the inner surface of the cylindrical sleeve ().

Belt sheave for passenger conveyor systems

A frictionless electronic safety actuator (), for use in an elevator system, includes a magnetic plate (); an electromagnet (); a linkage (); a biasing arrangement (); and a path-constraining arrangement (). The linkage () is actuatable so as to move a safety brake () into frictional engagement with an elevator guide rail (). The linkage () is attached to the magnetic plate () and is moveable between a first position in which the linkage () is actuated and a second position in which the linkage () is not actuated. The biasing arrangement () is arranged to apply a biasing force to the magnetic plate () to bias the magnetic plate () towards the first position.

Frictionless electronic safety actuator

A buffer device () for an elevator system (), the buffer device () including a first contact structure () and a second contact structure (). The first contact structure () includes a first contact surface (), and the second contact structure () includes a second contact surface (). The first contact surface () and the second contact surface () are arranged for contacting respective vertically offset surfaces of an elevator car () or counterweight ().

Double impact area buffer for improved plank

An elevator safety brake () for use in an elevator system, the safety brake includes a safety block () substantially made of a polymeric material or a polymer-based composite material. The safety block () comprising: an elongate channel () defining a channel axis (), wherein the elongate channel () is for receiving an elevator guide rail () of the elevator system when in use; and a cavity (). The safety brake () further comprises a first braking component () housed in the cavity (), wherein the first braking component () comprises a body () and a first braking surface (). The safety brake () further comprises a second braking component () comprising a second braking surface (). The first braking component () is arranged on one side of the elongate channel and the second braking component is arranged on the other side of the elongate channel.

Progressive elevator safety brake

An electronic safety actuator () for an elevator safety brake, includes a first solenoid (), a magnet (), movable by the first solenoid () between a first position proximate to the first solenoid () and a second position distal from the first solenoid () a second solenoid () and a detector (). The detector () is arranged to apply an electrical signal to one of the first solenoid () and the second solenoid (), and to detect an electrical signal induced in the other of the first solenoid () and the second solenoid () as a result of the applied electrical signal. There is also provided a method of detecting a condition or state of the first solenoid () or the magnet ().

Electronic safety actuator and method of condition or state detection

A safety brake device, for use in a conveyance system including a guide rail and a component moveable along the guide rail, comprises a safety brake moveable between a non-braking position where the safety brake is not in engagement with the guide rail and a braking position where the safety brake is engaged with the guide rail. The safety brake device also comprises an actuator for the safety brake, and the actuator comprises a mounting portion for mounting the actuator to the component, a pad arranged to be moveable relative to the mounting portion between a first position spaced from the guide rail and a second position in contact with the guide rail, and at least one biasing member configured to apply a biasing force to move the pad from the first position to the second position.

Safety brake device

An electromechanical actuator device comprises a fixed part, a first movable part and a second movable part each arranged to move with respect to the fixed part along an actuation direction. A conductive coil () is wrapped around a core () and is housed within the fixed part (). The first movable part () is coupled to the fixed part () by at least one restorative component () such that, in a working position, the first movable part () is separated from the fixed part () along the actuation direction () by a first actuation distance (d). The second movable part () is coupled to the first movable part () by at least restorative component () such that, in the working position, the second movable part () is separated from the first movable part () along the actuation direction () by a second actuation distance (d).

Actuator

A safety brake for an elevator system including a car and a guide rail is provided. The safety brake is adapted to limit movement of the car in a first direction (D) along the guide rail when in a braking state and comprises: first and second braking members adapted to be wedged against the guide rail when in a braking state; and an electromagnetic actuator, wherein the safety brake is configured such that: the first and second braking members are biased towards one another in a second direction (D) substantially perpendicular to the first direction (D); the first and second braking members are held in a non-braking state spaced apart from one another and the guide rail when the electromagnetic actuator is in a first state; and when the electromagnetic actuator is in a second state, the first and second braking members are moved into the braking state.

Combined safety brake and safety actuation mechanism

An elevator safety gear actuation device for actuating an elevator safety gear comprises a first member and a second member. The first and second members are arranged opposite to each other defining a gap configured for accommodating a guide member extending in a longitudinal direction. At least one of the engagement members comprises an engagement element which is movable in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction between a disengaged position and an engaged position. The first engagement element comprises at least one permanent magnet which is configured for being magnetically attracted and attaching to the guide member extending through the gap when the engagement element is arranged in the engaged position. The second member comprises at least one additional permanent magnet which is configured for being magnetically attracted to the guide member extending through the gap.
