A drill bit for a boring tool comprises a shank configured for engagement with the boring tool and a working tip having a first end attached to the shank and an opposite second end, and a conical helical thread extending substantially continuously from end to end. The thread root may include a rounded portion while the crest may be flat. The configuration of the helical thread, such as the crest width, thread depth, thread angle, cross sectional area and base width are adjusted as a function of the length of the threaded working tip to maximize bending strength and optimize thread wear and operability.

A rotary tool accessory in one embodiment includes a base, a circular wall extending upwardly from the base about a central axis, the circular wall including an inner face, an outer face and a circular rim, a first cutting group including a first inwardly extending tooth extending from a location directly above the circular wall to a location closer to the central axis than the inner face, a first outwardly extending tooth extending from a location directly above the circular wall to a location farther from the central axis than the outer face, and a first gullet extending downwardly from the rim toward the base, a second cutting group including a second inwardly extending tooth, a second outwardly extending tooth, and a second gullet, and a toothless expanse of the rim extending between the first cutting group and the second cutting group.

Embodiments of the invention comprise an auger bit for use with a power drill including an elongated member including a first end and an opposing second end, a helical surface having a central axis, where the helical surface defines at least one flute, a head portion integrally formed with the first end of the elongated member and including a primary cutting edge adapted to engage and remove material from a workpiece and a secondary cutting edge adapted to engage and remove additional material from the workpiece, a threaded tip integrally formed with the head portion and a shank integrally formed with the second end of the elongated member and adapted to engage the drill.

Auger bit including a reamer

A tool bit providing a combined drill bit and reamer is disclosed herein. The tool bit comprises an axial bit shaft including a bore end and a shank end. At least one helical land portion is provided on the bit shaft. The at least one helical land portion includes a cutting edge and a trailing edge. At least one reamer blade is provided on the helical land portion at the bore end of the bit shaft. The at least one reamer blade includes a substantially axial cutting edge. A tip arrangement is also included on the bore end of the bit shaft. The tip arrangement includes a center blade positioned between peripheral cutting blades.
