Some disclosed methods involve obtaining current A-line data corresponding to reflections of ultrasonic waves from a target object detected by a single receiver pixel, obtaining current ultrasonic fingerprint image data corresponding to reflections of ultrasonic waves from a target object surface, obtaining previously-obtained A-line data that was previously obtained from an authorized user, and obtaining previously-obtained ultrasonic fingerprint image data that was previously obtained from the authorized user. Some disclosed methods involve estimating, based at least in part on the current A-line data, the previously-obtained A-line data, the current ultrasonic fingerprint image data and the previously-obtained ultrasonic fingerprint image data, whether the target object is a finger of the authorized user. The estimation may involve an anti-spoofing process based at least in part on the current A-line data and the previously-obtained A-line data.

Some disclosed methods involve acquiring first ultrasonic signals corresponding to reflections from a cover/air interface of an apparatus that includes an ultrasonic sensor system, and determining one or more first ultrasonic signal parameters of the first ultrasonic signals. A method of controlling an apparatus that includes an ultrasonic sensor system may involve controlling the ultrasonic sensor system to transmit a first ultrasonic compressional wave and receiving first signals from the ultrasonic sensor system. The first signals may include signals corresponding to reflections of the first ultrasonic compressional wave from a target object proximate a surface of the apparatus. The method may involve performing an authentication process based, at least in part, on the first signals. The method may involve controlling the apparatus to transmit a shear wave and receiving second signals from the ultrasonic sensor system. The second signals may include signals corresponding to reflections of the shear wave from the target object. The method may involve performing a spoof detection process based, at least in part, on the second signals.

Various aspects of the disclosure relate to millimeter wave ranging with six degrees of freedom. For example, a multi-gigabyte link (e.g., an IEEE 802.11ad link or an 802.11ay link) and RF/Antenna diversity modules can be used to conduct round trip time (RTT) distance measurements between an anchor point and a station. Relative location information (e.g., degrees of freedom) between the wireless devices can then be determined based on the distance measurements.

In certain aspects, a method for communications comprises outputting a first portion of a signal to a first one of a plurality of RF modules for transmission, determining a throughput of the first one of the plurality of RF modules during thermal throttling of the first one of the plurality of RF modules, comparing the determined throughput of the first one of the plurality of RF modules with a throughput of a second one of the plurality of RF modules, and outputting a second portion of the signal to the second one of the plurality of RF modules for transmission if the throughput of the second one of the plurality of RF modules is higher than the determined throughput of the first one of the plurality of RF modules.

One aspect of this disclosure provides an apparatus for wireless communication. The apparatus comprises a plurality of antennas and a processing system. The processing system is configured to transmit a first signal to and receive a second signal from an wireless node via each of the antennas. The processing system is further configured to determine a plurality of distances between each of the plurality of antennas and the wireless node based on the signals. The processing system is also configured to identify a position of each of the antennas in relation to the wireless node based on a known distance between two antennas of the plurality of antennas in a pair and the determined distances. The processing system is further also configured to command a movement of the apparatus based, at least in part, on the identified positions.
