A folder includes a collect cylinder having at least one gripper for receiving signatures, and at least one first tucker and a jaw cylinder having at least one first jaw for interacting with the first tucker, the at least one first jaw including a stationary jaw part and a movable jaw part, the stationary jaw part and the movable jaw part being settable independently with respect to the first tucker.

An apparatus for removably securing a cutting component on a cutting component cylinder of a web printing press includes a first axial anvil member disposed at a periphery of the cutting component cylinder and a second axial anvil member disposed at the periphery of the cutting component cylinder opposite the first anvil member. The first and second anvil members receive the cutting component between them. A locking device is provided for positively securing the cutting component on the cutting component cylinder in a lock mode and positively releasing the cutting component in a release mode.

A folder cylinder with an outer circumferential surface has a first section having a first part at the outer circumferential surface of the cylinder and a second section having a second part at the outer circumferential surface of the cylinder, the first section being movable with respect to the second section, the first part being spaced from the second part at the outer circumferential surface in a first operating mode by a gap. A circumferential surface part is attached movably to the second section and defining at the gap part of the outer circumferential surface during the first operating mode. The circumferential surface part is freely rotatable in a radially inward direction with respect to the second section when the circumferential surface part is located at the outer circumferential surface. The circumferential surface part also has a radially extending inclined surface facing the outer circumferential surface for interacting with the first section so as to retract the circumferential surface part beneath the first part.

A reversible angle bar device for a web printing press having a web with an entering web centerline has a support, a first angle bar portion angled with respect to the first entering web centerline on a first side of the entering web centerline, and a second angle bar portion angled with respect to the entering web centerline and being located on a second side of the entering web centerline opposite the first side, the first and second angle bar portions being fixed to the support. A moveable angle bar portion is selectively attachable to either the first angle bar portion or the second angle bar portion.

A device and a method for attaching a printing web to a webbing sail include two thin, flexible sheets to be sandwiched about the printing web. Each of the sheets is at least partly attached to a trailing edge of the webbing sail. Protrusions are disposed obliquely on the sheets for gripping the printing web. A signature folding device includes a rotating belt and a plurality of blades attached to the belt, each of the plurality of blades contacting one of the signatures over an entire length of the one signature at a same time. Also disclosed is a method for folding a signature comprising transporting the signature on a fold table having a gap, the signature moving in a transport direction and forming a plane. A folding blade having a blade edge is moved in a direction both perpendicular and parallel to the transport direction, the blade edge being parallel to the plane upon contact with the signature, so as to pass through the gap and fold the signature.

Linear folding device and method

A signature folding device including a first transport device for transporting a first part of a signature, and a second transport device next to the first transport device for transporting a second part of the signature. The second transport device is skewed with respect to the first transport device so as to move the second part of the signature toward the first part of the signature. Also provided is a method for folding a signature including the steps of transporting a first part of the signature in a first direction, and transporting a second part of the signature in a second direction, the second direction being skewed toward the first direction so that a fold begins to form in the signature.

A paper processing device, in particular, a folder that includes an apparatus for replacing tapes that convey signatures and a method for replacing tapes of the paper processing device. The paper processing device has a frame or frames with opposing sides and a plurality of cylinders disposed between the opposing sides of the frames. Each one of the cylinders has an axis for rotation thereabout. The paper processing device includes a plurality of tapes and each one of the plurality of tapes is disposed to circulate around the plurality of cylinders. The paper processing device includes a holder for holding an end of the replacement tape that will be provided to replace one of the plurality of tapes, and an elongated conveying element disposed for circulation around the axis of the plurality of cylinders. The elongated conveying element is attached to the holder for guiding the replacement tape around the plurality of cylinders. The method includes a step of splicing two ends of the replacement tape together after the holder moves the replacement tape around the cylinders.
