A disclosed apparatus may protect power supply units (PSUs) from damage by limiting inrush current. For example, an apparatus may include a PSU and a controller. In one example, the PSU may be configured to convert power from an AC input into a DC output and to provide the DC output to a computing device. In this example, the controller may be configured to limit inrush current originating from the AC input by cycling at least one switch included in the PSU until a DC bulk voltage of the PSU reaches a certain threshold. Various other apparatuses, systems, and methods are also disclosed.

Apparatus, system, and method for protecting power supply units from damage by limiting inrush current

In some implementations, a power balancing device may monitor a power supply module (PSM) that includes multiple power supply channels. The PSM may be part of a power supply system for a network component that includes multiple PSMs, with each of the multiple PSMs being associated with a maximum output power. The power balancing device may determine that at least one power supply channel, of the multiple power supply channels, is inoperable. The power balancing device may determine, based on determining that the at least one power supply channel is inoperable, a revised maximum output power for the PSM based on a maximum allowable input current to each power supply channel, of the multiple power supply channels. The power balancing device may cause the PSM to output a power that is less than or equal to the revised maximum output power.

Power balancing for a power supply system

A disclosed apparatus may extend hold-up times for computing devices with redundant power supply units (PSUs). For example, an apparatus may include a plurality of PSUs and a controller. In one example, the PSUs may be configured to convert power from at least one AC input into a direct current (DC) output and to provide the DC output to a computing device. In this example, the controller may be configured to detect a loss of the AC input and a failure of a first PSU included in the plurality of PSUs. The controller may also be configured to extend a hold-up time of a second PSU included in the plurality of PSUs by boosting an undervoltage lockout signal monitored by the computing device in response to detecting the loss of the AC input and the failure of the first PSU. Apparatus, system, and method for extending hold-up times for computing devices with redundant power supply units

A power supply assembly includes an input module that includes one or more captive screws, one or more first power supply connection components, and one or more first input feed connection components; and a power supply unit that includes one or more captive screw connection switches, one or more second power supply connection components, and one or more second input feed connection components. The input module is to physically and electrically connect to the power supply unit; the one or more captive screws are to physically engage, respectively, the one or more captive screw connection switches; the one or more first power supply connection components are to physically and electrically connect to, respectively, the one or more second power supply connection components; and the one or more first input feed connection components are to physically and electrically connect to, respectively, the one or more second input feed connection components.

A device may include a power supply module (PSM). The PSM may receive information regarding one or more programmable restrictions associated with a power supply. The PSM may receive a measurement of voltage associated with the power supply. The PSM may determine a current associated with the power supply based on the one or more programmable restrictions, the measurement of voltage, and a first amount of power associated with the power supply. The PSM may cause a load associated with the power supply to be adjusted based on determining the current without removing power for a connection between the power supply and a power source associated with the power supply. The PSM may cause the power supply to provide a second amount of power based on causing the load associated with the power supply to be adjusted.

Power supply with programmable restriction

An apparatus may include a bus that electrically couples an electrical load to redundant power feeds. The apparatus may also include at least one capacitive component electrically coupled between first and second rails of the bus via both a conductive path and a resistive path that has substantially greater resistance than the conductive path. In addition, the apparatus may include a switching mechanism electrically coupled between the first and second rails of the bus that causes the capacitive component to charge through the conductive path until a threshold voltage on the first rail of the bus is reached. When the threshold voltage on the first rail of the bus is reached, the switching mechanism may close the conductive path and force the capacitive component to charge through the resistive path.
