According to the present disclosure, there is provided a high-temperature lubricant composition. The composition has an amount of an ester. The ester exhibits a kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. of 1 to 4 centistokes and a kinematic viscosity ratio at 150&#xb0; C./100&#xb0; C. of 0.6 or higher. The composition is at a temperature of 100&#xb0; C. to 150&#xb0; C. There is also another lubricating composition having the ester and a polymeric viscosity modifier. There are also methods for using the lubricating compositions in the crankcase of an engine.

Automated intelligent system for lubricant manufacture optimization

The present invention relates to a method of dispensing accurately small amounts of high viscosity lubricant components using tubeless positive-displacement liquid-handling equipment for forming lubricant blends. The method includes the steps of: providing a low void volume positive displacement pipette with a tapered tip for each lubricant component contained within a lubricant additive reservoir, and one or more lubricant blend containers; ingesting into a low void volume positive displacement pipette from a lubricant additive reservoir an ingestion volume of a lubricant component; moving the low void volume positive displacement pipette from the lubricant additive reservoir to the one or more lubricant blend containers; ejecting into the one or more lubricant blend containers an ejection volume of the lubricant component from the low void volume positive displacement pipette; returning the low void volume positive displacement pipette from the one or more lubricant blend containers to the additive reservoir; and repeating these steps for each additional lubricant component. The advantages of the method of the present invention include improved dispensing accuracy, quicker dispensing, lower shear rate during dispensing, lower temperature for dispensing, less residual additive on the tip of the device after dispensing, and the ability to real time monitor density and mass during dispensing. The method finds application in laboratory test environments, and in particular in high throughput testing environments.

Method of blending lubricants using positive displacement liquid-handling equipment

A device and method to extend the useful lubricant life in a diesel engine equipped with an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system consisting of placing a chemical filter in an area of relatively higher humidity either in the EGR stream or near the intake manifold. In some cases, placing chemical filters in both locations would be preferred. This device may also be used in combination with a chemical filter placed in the lubricant recirculation system which produces a synergistic effect beyond the individual effects of either component.

This invention relates to a lubricating oil composition comprising a base stock and an antioxidant comprising an oil soluble trinuclear organomolybdenum compound of the generic formula: Mo S &mdash;(Q) (1) wherein x is from 4 to 10 and Q is a core group, which may be a ligand, and at least one other compound selected from a phenolic and an aminic compound wherein the basestock has a kinematic viscosity at 100&deg; C. (KV ) from about 2 cSt to 20 cSt (2&times;10 to 20&times;10 m /sec) and a saturates content of at least 85%. The composition has a high oxidation stability, reduced deposit formation and is capable of giving rise to good fuel economy improvement.

Lubricating oil compositions

This invention relates to a method of controlling the soot induced viscosity increase of a diesel engine lubricant composition comprising a base oil and a dispersant, by including in said lubricant composition an effective amount of an antioxidant, characterised in that the antioxidant comprises a dihydrocarbyldithiocarbamate of a metal selected from antimony, bismuth and mixtures thereof. The antioxidant may optionally contain at least one other compound selected from a phenolic and an aminic compound. The method of the present invention improves the performance retention of the dispersant additive, and thus inhibits the soot-induced viscosity increase of the lubricant.
