This invention relates to a catalyst and method for hydrodesulfurizing naphtha. More particularly, a Co/Mo metal hydrogenation component is loaded on a high temperature alumina support in the presence of a dispersion aid to produce a catalyst that is then used for hydrodesulfurizing naphtha. The high temperature alumina support has a defined surface area that minimizes olefin saturation.

This invention relates to stabilized aggregates of small primary crystallites of zeolite Y that are clustered into larger secondary particles. At least 80% of the secondary particles may comprise at least 5 primary crystallites. The size of the primary crystallites may be at most about 0.5 micron, or at most about 0.3 micron, and the size of the secondary particles may be at least about 0.8 micron, or at least about 1.0 &#x3bc;m. The silica to alumina ratio of the resulting stabilized aggregated Y zeolite may be 4:1 or more.

Stabilized aggregates of small crystallites of zeolite Y

This invention relates to hydrocracking catalysts utilizing stabilized aggregates of small primary crystallites of zeolite Y that are clustered into larger secondary particles. At least 80% of the secondary particles may comprise at least 5 primary crystallites. This invention relates to the composition and synthesis of an Extra Mesoporous Y (or 'EMY') zeolite and its use in the catalytic conversion of organic compounds. In particular, this invention relates to a Y-type framework zeolite possessing a high large mesopore pore volume to small mesopore pore volume ratio. The novel zeolite obtained provides beneficial structural features for use in petroleum refining and petrochemical processes.

The mixture is extruded into extrudates and the extrudates are dried and heated to a temperature of from about 300&#xb0; C. to about 800&#xb0; C. to form the shaped body.

Production of shaped silica bodies

The invention relates to a catalyst for hydrodesulfurizing naphtha, to a method for preparing said catalyst and to a method for hydrodesulfurizing naphtha using said catalyst. This invention relates to a method for making shaped bodies having a silica content of at least 85 wt %, to shaped bodies made by such method, to catalyst compositions comprising shaped bodies made by such methods and to catalytic conversion processes using catalyst compositions comprising shaped bodies made by such methods. The method of making the shaped bodies comprises the steps of a) forming shaped bodies from a mixture obtained from at least one amorphous silica powder, at least one silica sol having a pH below 7, and at least one polymeric organic extrusion aid, optionally supplemental liquid medium and optionally crystallites of a zeolite or zeolite-type material; b) drying the shaped bodies obtained in step a); and c) heating the shaped bodies to a temperature ranging from about 500&#xb0; C. to about 800&#xb0; C.

Method for making silica shaped bodies

Bulk metallic catalysts comprised of a Group VIII metal and a Group VIB metal and methods for synthesizing bulk metallic catalysts are provided. The catalysts are prepared by a method wherein precursors of both metals are mixed and interacted with at least one organic acid, such as glyoxylic acid, dried, calcined, and sulfided.
