A system enables a printhead to be aligned independently of other printheads in a printhead assembly. The system includes a printhead configured to eject ink onto an image receiving member, a plate to which the printhead can be rigidly mounted and selectively removed, and a translation carriage to which the plate is rigidly mounted and locked into position with reference to a distance between the plate and the image receiving member, a pitch position, and a yaw position, the translation carriage being coupled to an actuator for movement of the translation carriage, plate, and printhead in a cross-process direction across the image receiving member.

System and method for facilitating replacement of a printhead with minimal impact on printhead alignment

A docking arrangement for establishing a gap between a first component and a second component comprises an adjustable spacer moveably positioned on the first component. The spacer defines a transverse channel and a cross pin extends through the transverse channel. The cross pin including a plurality of opposing surfaces with each of the opposing surfaces separated by a different distance. The cross pin further includes indicia representative of the different distances between the opposing surfaces. In at least one embodiment, the docking arrangement is configured for use in a printing machine with the spacer determining a gap between a print head mount and an imaging drum mount based on a selected set of the plurality of opposing surfaces.

A guide for tip to transmission path contact includes a guide insulator having at least one passageway defined therein. Each passageway has a tip passageway end and a transmission path passageway end. The tip passageway end is suitable for at least partially accommodating the tip of a probing head. The transmission path passageway end is suitable for at least partially accommodating a transmission path of a circuit board component. The tip contacts a transmission path through a passageway when the transmission path is positioned in the transmission path passageway end and the tip is positioned within the tip passageway end.

A guide for tip to transmission path contact includes a guide insulator with at least one passageway defined therein. The passageway has a tip passageway end and a transmission path passageway end. The guide insulator has an adhesive surface with adhesive associated therewith. The adhesive may be semi-permanent or permanent adhesive. The adhesive is for securing the guide insulator such that the passageway allows access to the transmission path. When not in use, the adhesive may attach the guide insulator to a nonstick surface of a backing surface.
