A dimensionally stabilizing substrate is secured to at least some of the strings on one of the top and bottom surfaces of the strings. A scrim sheet is secured to at least some of the strings on an opposed surface of the strings to maintain the positions of the strings. The dimensionally stabilizing substrate is laterally rigid enough to maintain length and width dimensions of the coil spring assembly. However, the dimensionally stabilizing substrate is flexible enough to allow the pocketed spring assembly to be roll packed for shipping.

Outer pockets are formed along each string by transverse seams joining the first and second plies. One pocketed spring and at least cushion pad is positioned in each outer pocket. The cushion pad may be individually pocketed. An upper end of each transverse seam may be below an upper surface of the string to partially separate adjacent outer pockets within a string.

The springs may be individually pocketed between two sheets of non-woven polypropylene fabric joined with circular or rectangular weld seams. Regardless of the shape of the weld seams, the different firmness of the different sections of the comfort layer may be due to different mini coil springs contained in the pockets. All pockets may have the same spring, the springs may be contained in different size weld seams to create pockets of different heights.

A bedding or seating product comprises a connector assembly and a stabilizer assembly at each corner of the product for joining perpendicular first and second upholstered trusses. Each stabilizer assembly comprises a first bracket secured to the first truss, a second bracket secured to the second truss and a leg assembly comprising a leg and a threaded rod. One of the first and second brackets has a threaded boss and the other of the first and second brackets has an opening aligned with the threaded boss. The threaded rod extends through the aligned threaded boss and opening of the first and second brackets and the leg abuts the first and second trusses to assist supporting the product above the ground.

A pocketed spring assembly comprises a plurality of parallel strings of springs held together with tabs. Longitudinal seams joining overlapping tabs extend generally the same direction as the strings of springs. Pockets are formed along a string of springs by aligned separating seams. At least one spring is positioned in each pocket. Each separating seam joins opposed plies of the string and keeps the spring in its pocket. Ends of aligned separating seams are spaced from each other, thereby improving airflow between pockets.
