Provided herein are titanium alloys that can achieve a combination of high strength and high toughness or elongation, and a method to produce the alloys. By tolerating iron, oxygen, and other incidental elements and impurities, the alloys enable the use of lower quality scrap as raw materials. The alloys are castable and can form &#x3b1;-phase laths in a basketweave morphology by a commercially feasible heat treatment that does not require hot-working or rapid cooling rates. The alloys comprise, by weight, about 3.0% to about 6.0% aluminum, 0% to about 1.5% tin, about 2.0% to about 4.0% vanadium, about 0.5% to about 4.5% molybdenum, about 1.0% to about 2.5% chromium, about 0.20% to about 0.55% iron, 0% to about 0.35% oxygen, 0% to about 0.007% boron, and 0% to about 0.60% other incidental elements and impurities, the balance of weight percent comprising titanium. There exists an unmet need to produce titanium alloys for use in aerospace applications which have a refined equiaxed grain structure. This can be beneficial for fatigue critical applications. The technology developed by QuesTek describes a titanium alloy and manufacturing methods thereof to obtain equiaxed grains on the order of 300 microns and corresponding UTS of approximately 170 ksi. In addition, various forms of the alloys are disclosed including ingots, billets, powders and wire in accord with the described microstructure and physical characteristics.

Titanium alloys

Alloys, processes for preparing the alloys, and articles including the alloys are provided. The alloys can include, by weight, about 4% to about 7% aluminum, 0% to about 0.2% carbon, about 7% to about 11% cobalt, about 5% to about 9% chromium, about 0.01% to about 0.2% hafnium, about 0.5% to about 2% molybdenum, 0% to about 1.5% rhenium, about 8% to about 10.5% tantalum, about 0.01% to about 0.5% titanium, and about 6% to about 10% tungsten, the balance essentially nickel and incidental elements and impurities.

Highly processable single crystal nickel alloys

Aluminum alloys are provided. The alloys can include one or more of zinc, magnesium, copper, zirconium, yttrium, erbium, ytterbium, scandium, silver, and the balance of aluminum and incidental elements and impurities. The alloys can be used for additive manufacturing of various articles, such as aircraft components.

Aluminum alloys

In one embodiment of the present disclosure, a niobium metal alloy composition includes: a vanadium content in the range of about 1.5 to about 12 weight percent; a hafnium content in the range of about 5 to about 13 weight percent; a titanium or zirconium content or a mixture of titanium and zirconium content in the range of about 0.25 to about 2.5 weight percent; and a niobium content as a balance of the alloy.

Niobium metal alloy

Alloys, processes for preparing the alloys, and articles including the alloys are provided. The alloys can include, by weight, about 0.01% to about 1% vanadium, 0% to about 0.04% carbon, 0% to about 8% niobium, 0% to about 1% titanium, 0% to about 0.04% boron, 0% to about 1% tungsten, 0% to about 1% tantalum, 0% to about 1% hafnium, and 0% to about 1% ruthenium, the balance essentially molybdenum and incidental elements and impurities.

Ductile high-temperature molybdenum-based alloys

A martensitic stainless steel alloy is strengthened by copper-nucleated nitride precipitates. The alloy includes, in combination by weight percent, about 10.0 to about 12.5 Cr, about 2.0 to about 7.5 Ni, up to about 17.0 Co, about 0.6 to about 1.5 Mo, about 0.5 to about 2.3 Cu, up to about 0.6 Mn, up to about 0.4 Si, about 0.05 to about 0.15 V, up to about 0.10 N, up to about 0.035 C, up to about 0.01 W, and the balance Fe and incidental elements and impurities. The nitride precipitates may be enriched by one or more transition metals. A case hardened, corrosion resistant variant has a reduced weight percent of Ni, enabling increased use of Cr, and decreased Co.

Martensitic stainless steel strengthened by copper-nucleated nitride precipitates

Alloys, a process for preparing the alloys, and manufactured articles including the alloys are described herein. The alloys include, by weight, about 11.5% to about 14.5% chromium, about 0.01% to about 3.0% nickel, about 0.1% to about 1.0% copper, about 0.1% to about 0.2% carbon, about 0.01% to about 0.1% niobium, 0% to about 5% cobalt, 0% to about 3.0% molybdenum, and 0% to about 0.5% titanium, the balance essentially iron and incidental elements and impurities.

Surface hardenable stainless steels

A case hardened gear steel having enhanced core fracture toughness includes by weight percent about 16.3Co, 7.5Ni, 3.5Cr, 1.75Mo, 0.2W, 0.11C, 0.03Ti, and 0.02V and the balance Fe, characterized as a predominantly lath martensitic microstructure essentially free of topologically close-packed (TCP) phases and carburized to include fine MC carbides to provide a case hardness of at least about 62 HRC and a core toughness of at least about 50 ksi&#x221a;in.

Secondary-hardening gear steel

A lead-free copper alloy includes, in combination by weight, about 10.0% to about 20.0% bismuth, about 0.05% to about 0.3% phosphorous, about 2.2% to about 10.0% tin, up to about 5.0% antimony, and up to about 0.02% boron, the balance essentially copper and incidental elements and impurities. The alloy contains no more than about 0.05 wt. % or 0.10 wt. % lead.
