A system redacts content in a multi-layered document by executing a content modifier process that redacts a first portion of content in a source layer and then automatically redacts related content in at least one target layer. The content modifier process overlays the source redaction region on corresponding areas of other layers in the document to identify target redaction regions in those other layers that contain target content. In turn, the content modifier process automatically identifies and redacts the target content within target redaction regions.

Methods and apparatus for redacting content in a document

Although current conferencing applications provide many abilities, some of these abilities are limited. Various embodiments described herein provide one or more of systems, methods, software, and data structures that allow a document, or other file type, to be used to connect to a network-based conference, such as over the Internet, where a view of a local copy of the document is synchronized between participants. Participation abilities of certain network-based conference participants may be limited in such embodiments. Such limits may be enforced locally for each participant, on a server by preventing data representative of certain actions from being broadcast to other participants, or in other ways as described and would be readily apparent herein.

Rights application within document-based conferencing

A method for redacting related content in a document by executing a redaction manager process that searches for related content in at least one document and then provides a means for selecting instances of the content for redaction. The related content may include properties such as, for example, identical instances of a text string, instances of related graphics, instances of numeric values and/or numeric patterns, proper names, phone numbers, addresses and similar searchable data properties. Upon searching and retrieving the desired data, the redaction manager process displays a listing of the instances of content which affords a user the ability to select which particular instances of content to redact within the document.

Methods and apparatus for redacting related content in a document

Various embodiments described herein provide one or more systems, methods, software, and data structures for the presentation of files packaged within a page description language document, such as a Portable Document format ('PDF') document. Some embodiments include a packaged file presentation shell that may be instantiated within a user interface of a page description language reader application and then modified by a presentation overlay. Such as presentation overlay typically includes at least one standardized graphical element, which, when applied to the packaged file presentation shell, overrides respective standardized graphical element properties and presentation nodes.

Presentation overlays to modify presentations of packaged files

Various embodiments described herein provide one or more of systems, methods, software, and data structures that allow a document, or other file type, to be used to connect to a network-based conference, such as over the Internet. Some embodiments may further allow a local copy of a document, viewed by each conference participant on their local computing devices, to be used as a conferencing tool by synchronizing document views across each local document copy and edits or other modifications and notations made by each participant. As a result, an actual image of the document of a document-based conference need not be shared. Rather, only the edits or other modifications and notations made by each participant are captured, transmitted, and recreated and displayed within the local document copies of the other participants.

Document based conferencing

A method for graphically designating content in a document for the subsequent application of a redaction function by executing a preview manager process that displays the designated content in a distinctive interactive configuration. The preview manager process renders the interactive configuration in a graphical format that allows a user to distinguish between the designated content (which has been selected by the user for subsequent application of a redaction function) and the remaining non-designated content in the document. Moreover, a user may interact with the designated content in the document such that, upon user activation (e.g., via an input device such as a mouse), the preview manager process renders a preview configuration that displays a simulation of the resultant application of the redaction function to the designated content. A user may further interact with the designated content in the document such that the preview manager process provides an interactive interface (e.g., a dialogue box) for modifying and/or configuring the properties of the redaction function.
