An example sensor assembly includes: a rotary displacement amplifier configured to be coupled to a lap bar of a mower and configured to amplify movement of the lap bar; and a rotary sensor comprising a sensor shaft coupled to, and rotatable by, the rotary displacement amplifier, wherein the rotary displacement amplifier is configured to transmit an amplified movement of the lap bar to the sensor shaft, and wherein the rotary sensor is configured to provide a signal indicative of a rotary position of the sensor shaft to a drive motor controller of the mower to drive an electric motor based on the signal.

An example assembly comprises: a brake shaft comprising gear teeth formed on a circumferential portion of the brake shaft, wherein the brake shaft is substantially constrained from moving in a longitudinal direction along a longitudinal axis of the brake shaft; and a brake gear that is rotatably coupled to a drive shaft of a motor, wherein the brake shaft is rotatable about the longitudinal axis between (i) a first position at which the gear teeth of the brake shaft are disengaged from the brake gear, thereby allowing the brake gear and the drive shaft to rotate, and (ii) a second position at which the gear teeth of the brake shaft engage the brake gear, thereby precluding the brake gear and the drive shaft from rotating due to the brake shaft being constrained from moving in the longitudinal direction.

Parking brake

A drive system for a zero turning radius (ZTR) vehicle includes a steering control and a sensor configured to receive a position of the steering control. A damper is coupled to the steering control and is configured to apply a selectable amount of resistive force to the steering control. A controller is in communication with the sensor and is configured to operate a motor of the ZTR vehicle responsive to the position of the steering control, and to operate the damper to apply a resistive force to the steering control responsive to actuation of the steering control.

A hydrostatic transmission subassembly for a vehicle includes an adapter manifold and a hydraulic pump mounted to the adapter manifold. The pump includes a pump housing and a pump porting manifold including pump porting for communicating fluid to and from the pump. The adapter manifold may include a mounting section adapted for mounting to the vehicle and a fluid interface section extending from the mounting section. The fluid interface section includes a pump interface having pump interface porting, in which the pump interface engages with the pump porting manifold to fluidly connect the pump interface porting with the pump porting. When the mounting manifold is mounted to the vehicle via the mounting section, the mounting manifold supports the hydraulic pump. The fluid interface section also includes a motor interface having motor interface porting for fluidly connecting to a motor, which enables the mounting manifold to fluidly connect the pump and motor.

A cooling fan or use with a hydraulic pump having an input shaft in a hydrostatic transmission includes a rotatable hub having a central body portion and an axially extending peripheral surface and a plurality of blades that extend radially outward from the peripheral surface. The cooling fan also includes an attachment aperture defined by the central body portion and an integral flange that axially extends from the central body portion. The integral flange defines a guard space having an area that is less than an area defined by the peripheral surface.

A filter component includes a cartridge portion including a filter media, and a plug assembly on which the cartridge portion is mounted and in fluid communication with the cartridge portion. The plug assembly comprises a first plug and a second plug, the first plug being larger than the second plug. The second plug is fixed to an inner surface of the first plug in an installed state and is removable from the first plug in a draining state. The first plug further defines a drain port, wherein in the installed state the second plug plugs the drain port and in a draining state the second plug is removed from the first plug to permit draining fluid through the drain port. The filter component may be incorporated into a hydrostatic transmission to permit controlled draining of fluid from the hydrostatic transmission that does not result in an oil mess.

Fan with integral airflow guide

A commutator/manifold assembly controls a flow of hydraulic fluid in a hydraulic fluid system. The assembly includes a commutator having an offset design including an inner portion eccentrically encompassed within an outer portion, and offset commutator porting to control the hydraulic flow. A manifold includes manifold ports having a straight configuration by which walls defining the manifold ports run substantially along a longitudinal axis through an entirety of the manifold. The commutator is configured to rotate to sequentially align the commutator porting with differing portions of the manifold ports to control the flow. The commutator porting includes inner ports and outer ports that are isolated from each other by a commutator seal. A commutator ring has a guiding surface that guides rotation of the commutator. The rotation of the commutator provides a timed flow through the manifold ports straight through the manifold and without any directional flow restriction.

A modular porting manifold for a hydrostatic transmission that serves as an end cover for the hydraulic motor, and which may be modularly interfaced with multiple different pump configurations having the same or similar pump interface across the different pump configurations. A pump interfacing section of the porting manifold may have a mating surface that interfaces with a corresponding mating surface of an outwardly addressable manifold of the pump. The pump interfacing section of the porting manifold may have at least two ports for communication of hydraulic fluid with the pump, in which the at least two ports are laterally spaced apart in the same horizontal plane to align with at least two corresponding ports on the pump manifold that are also in the same horizontal plane, which may provide less complex and easier to manufacture flow passages for the porting manifold and/or pump end block.

An example hydrostatic transmission includes (i) a motor section having a motor interface; (ii) a pump section configured to generate fluid flow, where the pump section comprises a pump interface having a first pump port to provide fluid flow therethrough and a second pump port to receive returning fluid flow therethrough; and (iii) an interface block coupled to the motor interface and coupled to the pump interface so as to couple the pump section to the motor section, where the interface block includes internal fluid passage to facilitate fluid communication between the pump section and the motor section.

An example pump includes: (i) a swash block having (a) a first trunnion arm, (b) a second trunnion arm, and (c) a first curved support surface and a second curved support surface disposed on an exterior surface of the swash block; and (ii) a housing comprising (a) a first bore, (b) a second bore, and (c) an internal chamber having a first curved bushing and a second curved bushing, where the swash block is supported within the internal chamber of the housing by the first trunnion arm being positioned in the first bore of the housing, the second trunnion arm being positioned in the second bore of the housing, the first curved support surface being positioned against the first curved bushing of the housing, and the second curved support surface being positioned against the second curved bushing of the housing.

A brake apparatus for restricting rotation of a rotatable member of a mowing machine, thereby controlling rotation of a wheel of the mowing machine, includes a brake member fixable on the rotatable member, and a gripping member for engaging and disengaging the brake member for restricting or permitting rotation of the rotatable member. A thrust link is coupled to the gripping member such that movement of the thrust link causes the gripping member to engage or disengage a radially outer surface of the brake member. For example, the gripping member may be biasedly engaged with at least a partial circumferential extent of the brake member such that actuation of the thrust link causes disengagement of the gripping member from the brake member.

An integral fan and airflow guide including a hub having a frusto-conical outer surface, and a plurality of fan blades circumferentially spaced apart about the hub and radiating outwardly from the hub. The frusto-conical outer surface having a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart slots that separate inclined segments of the outer surface to define respective airflow guide surfaces. The plurality of fan blades are integral with the respective airflow guide surfaces. The inclined airflow guide surfaces cooperate with the fan blades to direct impelled air axially and radially outwardly for improving the cooling of a machine component, such as a hydrostatic transmission, that is obstructed from airflow by a pulley or other obstacle.

A center section/motor sub-assembly for use in a hydrostatic transmission includes a center section having a pump running face for interfacing with a pump, and a motor running face for interfacing with a motor. The center section and the motor are configured for the hydraulic separating forces of the motor to be reacted only into the center section. The center section has two internal passages between pump kidney ports and motor kidney port, and the motor kidney ports are raised in elevation relative to the pump kidney ports. The internal passages run parallel to each other as they rise in elevation. A hydrostatic transmission includes the sub-assembly enclosed by a housing, in combination with a pump and output shaft assembly. For installation, the output shaft assembly is configured as a separate component from the sub-assembly of the center section and the motor.

Modular hydrostatic transmission

A brake apparatus for a mowing machine that includes a brake gear operatively rotatable with a rotatable member and a lock assembly for meshing with the brake gear to restrict rotation of the brake gear. A guide rail assembly is fixable relative to a support for supporting the rotatable member for rotation. The guide rail assembly guides a lock assembly movable between an unlocked arrangement and a locked arrangement. An actuator plate and the guide rail assembly jointly engage the lock assembly to effect meshing and unmeshing of at least one engagement member of the lock assembly, such as a roller or a jaw member, with the brake gear. The actuator plate is selectively rotatable about an axis of rotation of the brake gear relative to the guide rail assembly, where rotation of the actuator plate effects movement of the lock assembly between the unlocked and locked arrangements.
