The functionality of a networked physical product is defined as an abstraction, or a virtual product, in such a way that the product functionality can be interpreted and managed by a business enterprise system. A software application and data model spans isolated databases to store and maintain the functional data and contextual information of a networked physical product and the associated business data needed to manage the product. The functional and contextual data is managed by a purpose-built and optimized heterogeneous database environment, and the associated business data is managed separately in another purpose-built and optimized database environment.

Method and computer program product for allowing a software application to interact with a product

Apparatus and methods provide the effectiveness decay rate of actual police enforcement by allowing the user to chart the speeds in a particular location and overlay times when an officer was present and providing on-site enforcement. The system can monitor the speed in the location and when the speeds creep back up to a set speed or multiple of the speed after the enforcement period, the officer can be notified to provide enforcement again and reduce the speeds. For example, once the police car goes away, some locations may take longer for the average speed to creep back up to normal and others may have the average speed increase more quickly. A visual display of the situation provides a systematic method for determining enforcement locations and timing in place of conventional 'seat-of-the-pants' enforcement planning.

Traffic management reports are created from data provided by vehicle sensor devices placed at different fixed locations in a region. Data of vehicles that pass each of the vehicle sensor devices are captured and communicated to a central computer database. At the central computer database, a traffic priority enforcement report is created from the vehicle data. The traffic priority enforcement report incorporates vehicle data from a plurality of vehicles. The vehicle data is for a plurality of previous, non-current times so as to allow for analysis of past vehicle data.

Traffic management reports are created by providing vehicle sensor devices at different location in a region. Each device captures data of vehicles that pass the device. The vehicle data is communicated to a central computer database. At the central computer database, a user interface selects one or more criteria from a plurality of criteria for filtering the vehicle data. Traffic management reports are then automatically created from the filtered vehicle data using the selected criteria.
