Disclosed is a method and apparatus in which a computing device is configured to present as part of its lock-screen interface an image selected from a user's digital image library, and to receive user input designating a classification of the presented image and respond to that user input by not only recording a classification of the image but also unlocking the device. Further, each time the computing device again presents its lock-screen interface, the computing device may present a next image from the user's image library, thereby allowing the user to concurrently classify that next image as well while unlocking the device. Consequently, as a user repeatedly interacts with the lock-screen interface over time, the user may not only enjoy seeing various images from the user's image library but may also conveniently classify those images as an integral part of the user's repeated unlocking of the device.

A wireless communication device maintains a communication contact. The wireless communication device receives media session quality data for the communication contact. The wireless communication device receives a request for a media session with the communication contact and responsively identifies estimated media session quality with the communication contact based on the media session quality data for the communication contact. The wireless communication device displays a session activation icon for the media session request that visually indicates the estimated media session quality for the media session with the communication contact. The wireless communication device receives a user selection of the session activation icon and responsively establishes the media session with the communication contact.

Wireless communication systems may transfer communication status to a session icon that is displayed on a wireless communication device such as a smart phone, a tablet, a personal computer, a game console, a hand-held or wearable console, or other software processing device that has a wireless transceiver. A session quality server system obtains communication status data for a set of communication contacts. The session quality server system transfers the communication status data of the contact set over to the wireless communication device. Before a media session such as a voice call is established with a communication contact, the wireless communication device displays a session icon for that communication contact. The communication status of that contact is visually indicated in the session icon.

The portable electronic device comprises a processor, a memory, a display, and a first application stored in the memory that, when executed by the processor, receives indications of a plurality of events. The application also stores event information associated with the events in the memory, and when a user interface of a second application that is presented on the display is navigated away from, presents an announcement about one of the stored event information on the display.

A wireless communication device receives data indicating commercial icons that are related to commercial industries and displays an original group of the commercial icons that are individually related to different ones of the commercial industries. The wireless communication device receives a first user input to scroll the display toward a first set of the commercial icons related to a first one of the commercial industries, and in response, display the first set of the commercial icons related to the first one of the commercial industries while displaying a portion of the original group of the commercial icons that are not related to the first one of the commercial industries. A second user input is received to scroll the display toward a second set of the commercial icons related to a second one of the commercial industries based on the displayed portion of the original group of the commercial icons.

The device further comprises an application stored in the memory that, when executed by the processor at initial set-up of the mobile communication device, responsive to no existing dynamic portion of the animation for the network brand identity, downloads the dynamic portion of the animation from a server through an internet protocol (IP) address link stored in the memory, wherein the dynamic portion is in the form of scalable vector graphics (SVG) and comprises vector transformation information of changing portions of the animation from frame to frame, wherein the dynamic portion of the animation comprises network brand specific objects of the animation and configuration parameters to change the background of the static portion based on the network brand identity of the mobile communication device.

System and method of efficient mobile device network brand customization

A wireless communication device comprises a wireless communication interface, a user interface, and a processing system. The wireless communication interface is configured to detect a wireless signal that indicates status update information for a social networking application. The processing system is configured to monitor the social networking application for an attempt to transfer the status update information for delivery to a social networking system, and if the social networking application attempts the transfer, to delay the transfer and direct the user interface to prompt a user to edit the status update information. The user interface is configured to receive edit instructions from the user. The processing system is configured to process the edit instructions to edit the status update information and to direct the wireless communication interface to wirelessly transfer the edited status update information for delivery to the social networking system.

Interception of automatic status updates for a social networking system

Methods are disclosed for determining, based on a pass code inputted by a user, whether the user can access a particular feature of a mobile device. Features may include access to the device itself, products, services, applications, or the like. The mobile device requests access to the feature, and is sent display information for a plurality of icons, which indicates where each icon is to be displayed. An ordered selection of icons is received to determine whether the ordered selection matches a predetermined ordered selection. If they match, the user is allowed to access the feature of the mobile device.
