Angled trainline support casting

An end hose support assembly for a rail car is disclosed. The end hose support assembly may include a rear support bracket configured to be removably engaged within a yoke and the support assembly may constrain the lateral and vertical movement of a portion of the trainline.

A highly impact resistant ductile iron casting is made from a specified high nickel content ductile iron composition and post-treated with a specified heating and cooling profile to achieve an elongation exceeding the ASTM A536 ('60-40-18') standard, and meeting or exceeding Charpy V Notch impact resistance at &#x2212;20&#xb0; F. of greater than 11.0 ft.lbs.

A coupler head and mounting bracket combination for supporting a brake hose fitting uses a lug formed integrally with the coupler head and a support bracket mating with the lug. In embodiments, the bracket may be installed in a plurality of vertical positions on the coupler head. The bracket is maintained in a position inboard of the lateral side of the coupler head, to reduce or eliminate the likelihood that the bracket will interfere with the other equipment or the car body. Embodiments of the invention are particularly adapted for 'E' type and 'F' type coupler heads.

A system for preventing manway cover gasket over-compression utilizes machined surfaces on the top of eye bolt lugs on the side of a manway nozzle, machined compression stops on the periphery of the cover, and a specified distance between the top of the eye bolt lug and the manway nozzle edge to engage the stops at a predetermined amount of gasket compression. Force is distributed over an increased contact surface area between the manway cover and the bolt lugs to ensure that deformation occurs preferentially in the eye bolts before any other component in the manway cover system.

A railway car truck incorporating an interconnection between the side frame and bearing adapter is characterized by a low lateral spring constant relative to the longitudinal spring constant. The interconnection provides a proportional restoring force with minimal internal friction and hysteresis. In embodiments, the interconnection comprises compressed elastomeric members positioned between the thrust lug of the side frame and the bearing adapter in the longitudinal direction and a low friction interface between the roof of the pedestal jaw and the top of the bearing adapter.
