Methods and system for securing delivery of a parcel when an intended recipient is unavailable, comprising at least one storage receptacle having an electronically controlled locking mechanism, the storage receptacle comprising an interface for receiving an access code for facilitating unlocking of the storage receptacle, a wireless communication radio, and a processor. The system further comprises a remote service manager comprising an access code generator and a wireless communication radio for transmitting an access code to a mobile computing device operated by a delivery carrier. The mobile computing device includes a wireless communication radio, one or more processors, and a memory comprising instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to: receive, via the wireless communication radio, from the remote service manager, a single use access code for facilitating unlocking of the storage receptacle, and transmit the access code to the storage receptacle interface. The storage receptacle processor confirms the validity of the access code and causes the storage receptacle to first unlock and then lock after detection of the parcel within the storage receptacle.

Methods and systems for ensuring secure delivery of parcels using internet-enabled storage receptacle

The present invention is directed toward a communication device in communication with a motion sensing mechanism or other utility. The motion sensing mechanism or other utility is adapted to provide data to the communication device. The data is used to selectively allow or restrict the communication device's ability to transmit messages, which may include sensitive data, to a second electronic device. Thus, the motion sensing mechanism or other utility is utilized to limit access to data on the communication device to only instances when the utility provides the communication device with a recognized data input.

An integrated access control system for wirelessly managing an access point comprises a wirelessly operable electronic door lock coupled to the access point, a computing device controlled and operated by a first user, and a multi-radio host device located at or adjacent to the access point, the host device being in communication with the electronic door lock and the computing device. Each of the computing device and the host device comprises a memory configured to store instructions to enable the device to wirelessly communicate with the electronic door lock and the other device, a processor configured to execute the instructions, a low power wireless communication radio, and a high power wireless communication radio, wherein the host device and computing device are selectively capable of bidirectional communication via each of a low power radio communication channel and a high power radio communication channel. The host device further comprises at least one mechanism for detecting and/or capturing the presence of a second user accessing the access point, and the computing device further comprises a display and a user interface. The host device is configured to send event and/or system notifications to the computing device and receive operational and/or configuration commands from the computing device via the low power radio communication channel, and the host device is further configured to selectively operate the host device high power wireless communication radio to transmit an image and/or video captured by the host device at least one mechanism to the computing device in response to a command from the computing device via the low power radio communication channel.
