An illuminated speaker panel assembly with an integrated audio seal is described. In one embodiment, an illuminated speaker panel assembly for a vehicle includes a speaker configured to mount to a door body of a vehicle and a base panel component configured to attach to the door body over the speaker. The base panel component includes a speaker frame aligned with an outer periphery of the speaker. The speaker frame includes an outer sealing wall, an inner retention wall, and a channel disposed between the outer sealing wall and the inner retention wall. A lighting member is disposed within the channel of the speaker frame such that the lighting member is configured to extend substantially along the outer periphery of the speaker.

This disclosure provides a door lining upper base and a method of manufacturing the door lining upper base through injection molding of several sub-components. The door lining upper base is manufactured by separately injection molding a base substrate that forms the structural shape of the door lining upper base including aesthetic curvature, and first and second support structures that include attachment mechanism for connecting the door lining upper base to other aspects of the motor vehicle. In this way, each sub-component may be injection molded in a cost effective manner using a two-piece mold without the need for complex multi-part molds including side-sliders or lifters. The resulting door lining upper base therefore includes an aesthetic curvature, while still being manufactured in an efficient and cost effective manner.

A vehicle assembly includes an interior body panel having an outer surface including an opening portion, and a lid removably mounted to the body panel. The lid has a closed position for covering the opening portion and an opened position. Engagement between the lid and the body panel is adapted to allow the lid to pivot at least partially into the opening portion as the lid is moved from the closed position to the opened position. The lid defines a lid body having an exterior surface. An edge portion of the exterior surface is continuous and without interruption about a periphery of the exterior surface so that the lid body exterior surface is flush with the body panel outer surface about the entire periphery of the lid body exterior surface.

Some embodiments are directed to a weatherstrip and garnish assembly for use with a vehicle door that includes a body flange. The weatherstrip and garnish assembly can include a weatherstrip assembly that has a weatherstrip configured to be secured to the body flange of the vehicle door. The weatherstrip can include a curved portion. A sunshade garnish can be spaced from the curved portion of the weatherstrip to define a gap therebetween. A weatherstrip garnish can be disposed between the sunshade garnish and the weatherstrip so as to cover the gap. A first connector can connect the sunshade garnish to the weatherstrip garnish. A second connector can connect the weatherstrip garnish to the weatherstrip assembly.

Vehicle door assembly, and methods of use and manufacture thereof

A ventilation duct for a motor vehicle includes an air inlet, a duct body, and a duct opening generally in a shape of a quadrilateral having first, second, third, and fourth sides. The duct opening further includes a generally L-shaped extension extending away from the first and second sides of the duct body, and a first seal attached to the L-shaped extension. The ventilation duct further includes an outlet generally in the shape of the quadrilateral of the duct opening. The outlet further includes an outlet assembly, a generally L-shaped seal extension, and a second seal affixed to the L-shaped seal extension. The outlet is installed in the duct body in a direction perpendicular to the airflow to maintain the seal around the assembly point.

Some embodiments are directed to a door lining assembly for use with a vehicle having a vehicle interior, a vehicle door, and weather-stripping configured to facilitate sealing of the door in a closed position. The door lining assembly can include a front portion connected to a lower section of the vehicle door. The front portion can include a flange that is connected to the weather-stripping. The door lining assembly can also include an elongated transition portion that extends in a vehicle longitudinal direction and is attached to the front portion and the lower section of the vehicle door. The transition portion can be structured to have a gradually varying depth in a lateral direction of the vehicle, such that one end of the transition portion that is connected to the front portion extends further into the vehicle interior than the opposite longitudinal end.

A modular side lining for a motor vehicle includes a fastener, a first lining member including a first surface along an edge of the first lining member and at least one receiver for receiving the fastener, and a second lining member including a second surface along an edge of the second lining member. The second surface abuts the first surface to form a split line, and an extension extending from the second surface has at least one hole for receiving the fastener.

A step garnish for a rail and carrier seat system for motor vehicle is disclosed. The rail and carrier seat system includes two rails fixedly attached to and positioned laterally along a floor of the motor vehicle, a carrier laterally slidable within the rails, a handle attached to a laterally exterior side of the carrier, and a seat attached to the carrier. The step garnish includes an inner step garnish portion, the inner step garnish portion being installed below the handle on the carrier, the inner step garnish having an exposed portion; and an outer step garnish portion, the outer step garnish portion including a cut out clearance shape for being installed from above the handle, the cut out clearance shape having a shape substantially similar to the exposed portion of the inner step garnish.

Some embodiments are directed to a hook assembly for use with a vehicle having a vehicle interior, a vehicle door having a window bordered by a lining, and a sunshade assembly configured to cover the window, the sunshade assembly having a support member by which the sunshade assembly can be secured to the lining to cover the window. The hook assembly can include a grommet configured to be connected to the lining. The hook assembly can also include a hook member configured to be disposed adjacent and attached to the grommet such that the grommet is disposed between the hook member and the lining, the hook member including a hook extending therefrom, the hook being configured to engage the support member to secure the sunshade assembly to the lining to cover the window.

Some embodiments are directed to a door lining assembly for use with a vehicle that defines a vehicle exterior and a vehicle passenger compartment. The door lining assembly can include a base assembly including an outboard base that defines a substantially planar upper surface that extends obliquely relative to a transverse direction of the vehicle so as to face upwardly toward the vehicle exterior. The base assembly can also include an inboard base that defines a substantially planar upper surface that extends obliquely relative to the upper surface of the outboard base downward toward the vehicle passenger compartment. The outboard and inboard bases can be joined together to form a peak that is the vertically highest portion of the base assembly. A unitary topcoat can cover the upper surfaces of the outboard and inboard bases.

A tailgate on a vehicle and a method of forming a tailgate for a vehicle includes a tailgate frame, a tailgate liner secured to the tailgate frame and a tailgate liner insert fixedly secured to the tailgate liner. The tailgate liner is formed of a first material and the tailgate liner insert is formed of a second material that is different from the first material. The tailgate liner insert is adapted to be accommodated within an insert aperture defined in the tailgate liner. The tailgate liner insert having an integrally molded feature.

A vehicle assembly for housing an unlocking mechanism provided within a vehicle passenger compartment which is operably connected to a locking device of a trunk lid includes an interior body panel having an outer surface including an opening portion for receiving an unlocking mechanism. A lid is removably mounted to the body panel and has a closed position for covering the opening portion and an opened position. The lid defines a lid body having an exterior surface. An edge portion of the exterior surface is continuous and without interruption about a periphery of the exterior surface so that the lid body exterior surface is flush with the body panel outer surface about the entire periphery of the lid body exterior surface.

An HVAC assembly for a vehicle includes a roof liner with an opening, and a stiffener. The stiffener includes an upper surface, a lower surface, and an integrally formed HVAC duct extending away from the unexposed side of the roof liner toward the roof of the vehicle. The lower surface of the stiffener contacts an unexposed side of the roof liner, and at least substantially surrounds the opening for providing rigidity to the roof liner around the opening in the roof liner. The integrally formed HVAC duct includes an outlet port for providing conditioned air to the vehicle cabin.

A trunk compartment may include a trunk lining having a trunk top coat member and a trunk spacer member. The trunk coat top member may have an inner surface that may define a portion of the trunk lining and an outer surface. A trunk spacer member may be operatively connected to the trunk coat top member and the vehicle frame. The trunk coat top member and the trunk spacer member may be formed in the same mold.
