A relational model may be used to encode primitives for each of a plurality of threads in a multi-core processor. The primitives may include tasks and parameters, such as buffers. The relationships may be linked to particular tasks. The tasks with the coding, which indicates the relationships, may then be used upon user selection to display a visualization of the functional relationships between tasks.

A virtual reality system surveys a real-world environment, generates 3D data that defines the real-world environment, renders a virtual 3D environment using the 3D data, retrieves a virtual object from a database comprised of pre-stored virtual objects, renders the virtual object in the virtual 3D environment, and re-positions the virtual object in the virtual 3D environment.

Colors are obtained and used to shade two-dimensional non-photo realistic images of three-dimensional models. The colors are stored as texels in texture maps. The texels are chosen to shade the images based on their orientation in a scene. The colors may be obtained once, in a pre-rendering process. The colors may then be selected in a run-time process.

Portable virtual reality is disclosed. A digital camera captures an input video stream comprising video frames that carry information about a surrounding environment limited by a field of view of the camera. The input video stream is processed by a handheld computer coupled to the camera. Parameters that define a rendered scene of a virtual environment are adjusted based upon motion parameters extracted from the input video stream by the handheld computer during the processing.

Parameters that define a partial view of a virtual workspace are redefined based upon motion analysis of the input video stream performed by the handheld computer during the processing.

A multi-dimensional bounding sphere is determined for a collection of points by determining a multi-dimensional bounding box that encompasses all of the points, determining the center of the bounding sphere from the center of the bounding box, and determining the radius of the bounding sphere as the distance from the center of the bounding sphere to a location not closer to the center of the bounding sphere than any of the points in the collection of points.
