An aviation-related communication network includes a plurality of base stations configured to communicate with in-flight aircraft, a plurality of aviation-related communication network radios disposed on selected aircraft where the aviation-related communication network radios are configured to communicate with base stations of the aviation-related communication network via aviation-related communication network communication links using a first communication standard, and a first wireless access point on each of the selected aircraft to define a first wireless local area network on each of the selected aircraft. At least some of the selected aircraft include a second wireless local area network that defines a priority access network. Devices of the priority access network may be provided with priority access to bandwidth supplied by the aviation-related communication network relative to devices of the first wireless local area network.

A method for monitoring aircraft operation status comprising the steps of transmitting aircraft operation data from an on-board monitoring system of an aircraft while in a cruising phase of flight in at least one of a continuous transmission and a batched transmission while in flight and receiving aircraft operation data in the form of at least one of the continuous transmission and the batched transmission from the aircraft in flight, the form of the aircraft operation data being responsive to at least one of phase of flight, network traffic across a communication device associated with the aircraft, or network traffic across a network associated with the aircraft. The method further comprises identifying the aircraft associated with the aircraft operation data and recording the aircraft operation data to an aircraft database.

System for automated recording of aircraft flight and maintenance information and associated methods

A method for monitoring aircraft operation status comprising receiving aircraft operation data, identifying an aircraft associated with the aircraft operation data, recording the aircraft operation data to an aircraft database, and determining whether the aircraft operation data complies with rules governing aircraft operation. Upon determining the aircraft operation data complies with the rules governing aircraft operation, the compliance is recorded to the aircraft database. Upon determining the aircraft operation data comprises a non-compliance, a non-compliant aircraft system or component associated with the non-compliance is identified, the non-compliance to the aircraft database is recorded, and an action responsive to the non-compliance is performed.

Methods and systems for an automated real time cabin status and position reporting system with an application on a user mobile device for initiating a request for cabin status and position, an aircraft internet connection aboard the aircraft for receiving and transmitting the request with aircraft identification, and a ground network to receive the request and aircraft identification and return real time cabin status and position reports corresponding to aircraft identification. The ground network can use transceiver receiving real time aircraft flight information from third parties, a lookup table for matching received aircraft identification with subscribing aircraft configuration data, and a processing device for executing a set of instructions for matching received aircraft identification with subscribing aircraft configuration data, processing real-time flight information corresponding to aircraft identification and compiling cabin status and position reports from corresponding aircraft configuration data and incoming real time flight information.
