The disclosed adjustable strap apparatus may include a left strap having a first rack member and a right strap having a second rack member. An electrical unit may have an opening through which a shaft passes. A pinion member may be affixed to a proximal end of the shaft and may be adapted to (a) engage the first rack member and the second rack member and (b) translate the first rack member and the second rack member in opposite directions via rotation of the shaft. A ratcheting member may be coupled to a distal end of the shaft and may include one or more pawls adapted to prevent rotation of the shaft when engaged. Various other methods, systems, and devices are also disclosed.

Curved battery-pack devices and accessories

Curved battery cells are described. The curved battery cells include first and second curved battery cells having complementary curvatures. The curved battery cells are housed in battery pack housing that has a curvature that complements the curvatures of the curved battery cells. An adhesive layer is be configured to adhere at least one of the first curved battery cell or the second curved battery cell to a curved surface of the battery pack housing.

High capacity curved battery cells

Embodiments of secondary batteries having electrode assemblies are provided. A secondary battery can comprise an electrode assembly having a stacked series of layers, the stacked series of layers having an offset between electrode and counter-electrode layers in a unit cell member of the stacked series. A set of constraints can be provided with a primary constraint system with first and second primary growth constraints separated from each other in a longitudinal direction, and connected by at least one primary connecting member, and a secondary constraint system comprises first and second secondary growth constraints separated in a second direction and connected by members of the stacked series of layers. The primary constraint system may at least partially restrain growth of the electrode assembly in the longitudinal direction, and the secondary constraint system may at least partially restrain growth in the second direction that is orthogonal to the longitudinal direction.

Secondary batteries and methods of manufacture thereof are provided. A secondary battery can comprise an offset between electrode and counter-electrode layers in a unit cell. Secondary batteries can be prepared by removing a population of negative electrode subunits from a negative electrode sheet, the negative electrode sheet comprising a negative electrode sheet edge margin and at least one negative electrode sheet weakened region that is internal to the negative electrode sheet edge margin, removing a population of separator layer subunits from a separator sheet, and removing a population of positive electrode subunits from a positive electrode sheet, the positive electrode sheet comprising a positive electrode edge margin and at least one positive electrode sheet weakened region that is internal to the positive electrode sheet edge margin, and stacking members of the negative electrode subunit population, the separator layer subunit population and the positive electrode subunit population.

An apparatus may include a power rail, a subassembly, an additional subassembly, and an interface coupling the subassembly to the additional subassembly. The subassembly may include a load, an energy-storing component, a charger having an output coupled to the energy-storing component, and a reverse-current limiter having a first terminal coupled to the energy-storing component. The additional subassembly may include an additional energy-storing component, an additional charger having an output coupled to the additional energy-storing component, and an additional reverse-current limiter having a first terminal coupled to the additional energy-storing component. The power rail may cross the interface and may couple the load, an input of the charger, a second terminal of the reverse-current limiter, an input of the additional charger, and a second terminal of the additional reverse-current limiter. Apparatus, systems, and methods for distributed charging and discharging

A curved battery pack may include (1) a housing comprising a curved surface and (2) a curved battery shaped to conform to the curved surface. The curved battery may be positioned relative to the curved surface such that the curved surface applies a force that counteracts a flattening force experienced by the curved battery. A wearable battery-pack accessory may include (1) one or more curved batteries, (2) charging circuitry that charges the one or more curved batteries, (3) supplying circuitry that supplies power to a connected external computing device, and (4) an outer housing including a curved surface shaped to conform to a portion of a wearer's body. A head-mounted display system may include (1) a head-mounted display, (2) a strap that is coupled to the head-mounted display and wraps around the back of a user's head when the user is wearing the head-mounted display, and (3) a battery-pack accessory detachably coupled to the strap. A battery system includes a plurality of battery cells connected in parallel. Each battery cell includes a positive and negative tab. The battery system also includes a plurality of thermal switch devices (e.g., temperature cut off (TCO) or positive temperature coefficient (PTC) devices). Each thermal switch device is electrically coupled to a respective cell. The battery system further includes a rigid-flex circuit board comprising a plurality of rigid regions. Each rigid region is physically and electrically connected to an adjacent rigid region by a respective flexible region. Each rigid region is electrically coupled to respective positive and negative tabs of a respective battery cell. Each thermal switch device prevents abnormal current flow (e.g., by limiting the flow of current at high temperatures) between a first battery cell that is coupled to the thermal switch device and a second battery cell that is adjacent to the first battery cell.

Battery pack architecture for parallel connection of cells

An artificial-reality headset assembly includes an artificial-reality headset, a battery pack, and a plurality of head straps. One end of each of the head straps is coupled to the artificial-reality headset and the respective opposite end is coupled to the battery pack. The plurality of head straps includes one or more side straps configured to be worn around a user's head. The battery pack is located in proximity to a posterior portion of the user's head when the artificial-reality headset is worn. The position and weight of the battery pack function to counterbalance weight of the artificial-reality headset, creating a symmetric balance along an axis of the user's head and maintaining the position of the battery pack regardless of adjustment to the one or more side straps. In some embodiments, the plurality of head straps includes an overhead strap (e.g., an adjustable ergonomic strap).
