A spinal construct comprises a fastener including a head. A member includes an inner surface defining a cavity configured for disposal of the head and a groove configured for disposal of a band that is engageable with the head to connect the fastener and the member. The member includes a transverse rod. A coupling member is engageable with the inner surface. Implants, systems, instruments and methods are disclosed.

Spinal construct

A spinal-surgery system having a rod receiver and/or a cap. The cap has a cylindrical body, opposing splay-resisting flanges, and an opposing rotation-preventing/rotation-resisting wings, each wing having a lateral rotation-preventing surface and a lateral rotation-resisting surface. A receiver proximal end forms a wing-receiving cavity having a lateral rotation-preventing side and a lateral rotation-resisting side. Each flange has a proximal-facing cap splay-resist surface, and a distal-facing cap pop-on surface. Each receiver proximal protrusion has a proximal-facing sloped receiver pop-on surface, and a distal-facing sloped receiver splay-resist surface. Each rotation-preventing surface contacts a corresponding rotation-preventing side and each rotation-resisting surface contacts a corresponding rotation-resisting sides when the cap is popped on. The rotation-preventing surfaces contacting the rotation-preventing sides prevents cap rotation in a first direction. The rotation-resisting surfaces contacting the rotation-resisting sides resists cap rotation in a second direction, but allows cap rotation in the second direction to force receiver arm splay.

Pop-on-cap assemblies having opposing splay-resisting features and generally demi-teardrop opposing rotation-preventing/rotation-resisting features for spinal surgery

A spinal construct includes a first member having a first thread form and an implant cavity configured for disposal of the spinal implant. A second member is engageable with a spinal implant and includes a second thread form configured for engagement with the first thread form. A gauge is coupled to the second member. The gauge is configured to measure a force between the second member and the spinal implant when the second member is engaged with the first member. The second thread form is timed with the first thread form to position the gauge in a selected orientation relative to the spinal implant. Systems and methods are disclosed.

Surgical system and method

A bone fastener comprises a first member defining an implant cavity and a plurality of adjacent grooves. A first band is configured for disposal within the grooves. A second band is configured for disposal within the grooves. A second member is configured to penetrate tissue and includes a head engageable with the first band to provisionally connect the members. The second band is moveable for disposal adjacent the first band to fix connection of the members. Implants, systems, instruments and methods are disclosed.

Spinal implant system and methods of use

A bone fastener comprises a first member defining an implant cavity and a plurality of adjacent grooves. A first band is configured for disposal within the grooves. A second band is configured for disposal within the grooves. A second member is configured to penetrate tissue and includes a head engageable with the first band to provisionally connect the members. A first part is engageable with a spinal rod disposed with the implant cavity. A second part is attached with the first part and engageable with the second band to dispose the second band adjacent the first band to fix connection of the members. Surgical instrument and method

A surgical instrument comprises a first member including a lateral projection having a locking surface that defines an elongated cavity. The locking surface is engageable with a longitudinal member to fix the longitudinal member with the first member. A second member includes at least one mating element being engageable with a spinal construct. The first member is axially translatable relative to the second member in a first direction to tension the longitudinal member and in a second direction to release tension from the longitudinal member. Each receiver proximal protrusion has a proximal-facing sloped receiver pop-on surface, and a distal-facing sloped receiver splay-resist surface. Each rotation-preventing portion contacts a corresponding rotation-preventing side and each rotation-resisting portion contacts a corresponding rotation-resisting sides when the cap is popped on. The rotation-preventing portions contacting the rotation-preventing sides prevents cap rotation in a first direction. The rotation-resisting portion contacting the rotation-resisting side resists cap rotation in a second direction, but allows rotation in the second, forcing the arms to splay.

Pop-on-cap assemblies having opposing splay-resisting features and generally rectangular opposing rotation-preventing/rotation-resisting features for spinal surgery

A method of assembly for a bone fastener is provided. The method includes the steps of: engaging a retainer with an implant receiver in a relatively fixed position; translating the retainer relative to the implant receiver to an expandable orientation; and manually engaging a screw shaft with the retainer to connect the implant receiver with the screw shaft. Implants, systems and instruments are disclosed.

A spinal implant includes a first member having an inner surface defining an implant cavity and at least one mating element. A second member includes a head and a shaft configured to penetrate tissue. The head includes at least one mating element engageable with the at least one mating element of the first member and a part. A locking element is engageable with the member within the cavity to fix the member with the body. The body further includes a wall that defines a bay configured for disposal of a longitudinal element being engageable with the wall to fix the longitudinal element with the body independent of the member, Systems and methods are disclosed.
