A wellhead, including a fluid injection system disposed in the wellhead, a fiber injection system disposed in the wellhead and operably connected to the fluid injection system to inject fiber into the fluid injection system. A multimodal fluid injection valve, including a body having a check valve therein, a side pocket physically and fluidly connected to the body, the side pocket including a fiber anchor therein. A method for instrumenting a preexisting gas lift or chemical injection system, including cleaning the chemical injection system, and injecting optic fiber through the chemical injection system. A method includes introducing the downhole assembly into a wellbore, wherein the downhole assembly is disposed when the shape-memory article is in a compacted shape; exposing the downhole assembly to a wellbore fluid; releasing the activation material from the deployment control element; and contacting the shape-memory article in the compacted shape with the released activation material to cause the shape-memory article to expand, and conform to a surface of the wellbore.

A downhole assembly includes: a shape-memory article; and a deployment control element adjacent the shape-memory article, the deployment control element having a body and a seal element that forms an enclosure together with the body, the deployment control element further including an activation fluid disposed in the enclosure, wherein the body, the seal element, or both of the deployment control element is degradable in the presence of the activation fluid.

A method for improving sealing in boreholes includes temperature controlling seals to maintain sealing loading by managing temperature of the seal to a target temperature range. A resource exploration and recovery system includes a first system and a second system extending into a wellbore. The second system includes a completion having a casing defining a wellbore internal diameter. A chemical injection tubing extends from the first system into the completion. The chemical injection tubing includes a terminal end portion. A chemical introduction system is arranged at the first system and is fluidically connected to the chemical injection tubing. The chemical introduction system is operable to deliver a chemical into the chemical injection tubing. A chemical injector assembly is mounted to the terminal end portion. The chemical injection system includes an anchor and a chemical injector valve.

A system for monitoring a downhole component includes a downhole sensing device configured to monitor a downhole component and generate component information during deployment of the of the downhole component to a selected location in a borehole in a resource bearing formation. The system also includes a downhole communication device connected to the downhole sensing device, the downhole communication device configured to wirelessly transmit a signal indicative of the component information to a surface location during the deployment.

An embodiment of a downhole device includes an elongated body configured to be deployed in a borehole in an earth formation, the borehole including a borehole fluid. The device also includes a propulsion system attached to the body and configured to move the device through the borehole. The propulsion system includes one or more rotor blades configured to generate thrust using the borehole fluid. At least part of the one or more rotor blades is disposed external to the elongated body.

An adaptable anchor includes a frame; an arm articulated to the frame; a pad connected to the arm at a distance from the articulation with the frame; a wedge movably mounted to the frame and in wedging contact with the arm; a biasing member disposed to selectively apply a biasing energy between the frame and the wedge; and a degradable retainer preventing application of the biasing energy until degraded. An embodiment of a borehole system includes a borehole in a subsurface formation; a tubular member disposed in the borehole; and an adaptable anchor as in any prior embodiment in operable contact with the tubular member. An embodiment of a method for anchoring a tool in a borehole includes running the adaptable anchor into a borehole; degrading the degradable retainer; urging the wedge into contact with the arm with the biasing member; and displacing the pad.

A tubular system includes a side pocket mandrel having at least one side pocket defining a device storage zone. A conductor extends along the tubular system to the side pocket. A stored device is arranged in the device storage zone.

An anchor and seal system including a slip, a cone in radially expanding communication with the slip, an element in loadable communication with the cone, and a pusher configured to radially displace the element to reside on an element retention surface of the pusher. A method for treating a borehole including running an anchor and seal system above to depth, activating a setting arrangement to anchor and seal the anchor and seal system.
